Apple Car Play

Hi all
I am in the process of getting apple Car Play fitted to my 2018 GS 450h but have a few concerns
I have seen the Carlinkit system here for around £350 and the info on the site doesnt look too bad however I like to have Nav on one side (the largest part) and Range ,Time and MPG on the other, does the carlink allow this as all the photos shows either Full screen Nav or Full screen Icons.
I have looked at the beatsonic but  its around £900 a bit out of my range, maybe because there are'nt too many GS s  here

I have looked on line at the images but i could'nt get a definitive conclusion from the display.

I do on occasions Have full map on screen and use the small dial in Dash but prefer the main screen.
I do also have the Quick Dial window up as well so i dont want to lose the ability to have no display on the Main screen.
I would be obliged if anyone  could enlighten me on this topic

I can't speak for the unit you are referring to but I recently bought a wireless Android Auto dongle from Carlinkit.It did not work as it was advertised and I had to return it.Carlinkit customer service is abysmal and I wouldn't have anything to do with them.other members on here have had similar problems with them.

I did read on the US site that it was a bit clunky and a pain to setup

but i am sure there must be a kit that is  compatable

But my origional concern was does it take over the OEM system as i like The info on the side screen and map on larger part of screen

I don't have any experience of a full carlinkit type unit, but I have an ottocast dongle which I can recommend as being easy to set up and that works seamlessly.

That sounds like something to convert existing wired carplay to wireless if i am not mistaken. It wont work on the facelift GS as it doesnt have carplay or android auto at all.

You are correct, that is what it does.  Hopefully someone with knowledge of what you want will post shortly

I wonder if something like this could work as an alternative. I guess it could still serve the purpose of having google maps on the factory screen without an invasive install of additional modules.

Most of these third-party units such as the Grom Vline 2, the Lexion, the Lsailt and others will now allow you to choose which side is the driver's seat and the screen can be manipulated accordingly, such as navi closest to driver (2/3 screen) with info to the other side (1/3 screen) or vice versa, or navi full screen.

Hi Mate

i have been on Hols this week

yes i got a lad at Burton on trent to fit me a CarPlay unit and have to say it is working flawlesly I am not sure of the make but he said it was a new Solution.

 It goes through theBluetooth as opposed to the AUX  and performs very well  it went completely behind the radio took about 20 mins to fit .

They have not completely mastered the mouse but it took me no time at all to master it.

I will PM you his number he may be able to send you one if thats what you want of course and get someone or yourself to fit it.

 I think i may violate the rules if i give it out publicly

I can certainly vouch for the system it as completly modernised the car.
