2013 Lexus IS300h - Car screeching, because of brakes?

Recommended Posts

My car, when doing a slow cruise (foot off brake and gass) and just letting it roll, I hear like screeching. Some guy told me he had the same problem with his Lexus, and another told me it was because the original manufactured brakes from Lexus were "too rough" or something along those lines.

Anyone else have or having this issue?

P.S.

I've had it checked and they said pads and discs were fine.

Do you know if its coming from the rear? The rear brakes dont get applied much by most hybrid cars and the caliper pistons can sometimes seize due to corrosion. Maybe have it checked at a good independent. Might be a good idea to have the brakes serviced every few years as a matter of maintenance. Since the brake pads last so long i reckon nobody looks at the brakes until the pads are worn but it might be a good idea to clean things and grease the slider pins etc. once every 2 - 3 years or 20-30k miles.

Anyway in my opinion the noise you hear is definitely not normal because "lexus brakepads are rough" and warrants investigation by a professional.

I have sometimes been irritated by screeching from my brakes at low speeds, particularly audible with windows not fully closed, and since the sound disappears after a while, I simply attribute it to dirt or grit on one of the pads.   This might be evidenced  by visible scoring of the relative disc, though not so severely in my experience as to perceptibly affect braking performance.

For some reason the brakes on my 2019 RC suffered from the occasional screeching. Didn't have the same on the 2016 RC. Sometimes I would stop and where safe reverse a short distance to clear the screeching.

This is the nearside front, Lexus said it wasn't a problem and safe. It drove and stopped without issue

Mine do screech at times, I had new pads and disks on the rear and it went away for a while but is back again. It seems worst when damp.

if you have the time and tools to lubricate the pins ever so often great, but if not best to just turn the radio up and ignore it. At least pedestrians will here you coming.

I get a screech from the rear only when the breaks are worn. I believe it’s a sticky calliper which is common on these as they are not used much due to the hybrid nature. I need to give them a good clean and grease up this weekend.
