All my locking wheel nuts were rusty & nasty. I replaced them but I had to wonder if alloy wheel theft us still a thing? Back I'm the 90s & 00s alloy wheels were expensive & most cars still came with hub caps. alloys were so expensive in the 90s  the  Mk4 Supra came with 16" alloy wheels. Today its not unusual to see 18"/19" wheels on regular cars. All my rusty nuts came off ok but they can obviously be a problem if they wont come off. I considered just putting the regular wheel nuts back on but...didn't.

anyone not bother with locking nuts anymore? Apparently if someone really wants your wheels a locking wheel nut won't stop them.

I hate rusty nuts as well. Quick solution is a toilet roll cut down the length, trim the excess off to reduce the circumference, insert into the wheel nut hole, and a quick blast from a silver aerosol can. All 4 done in 5 minutes!

Agree with your other comments, and don't think theft is so much of a problem, and do remember the days of seeing cars on their discs.

Its all well painting them but if they are rusted & the thing rounds off on you, youre stuck. Some of these garages use air guns on locking wheel nuts so you have to use huge force to get them off. They are only meant to have 140nm or something.

I don't think wheel theft is as common now, but mine were a bit rusty and I did replace them as they weren't expensive. Also whenever I get my car back from a garage/tyre shop I always loosen the nuts and retighten them to spec.
