Lexus LC500 in last week's Autocar magazine

Interesting 'First Drives' for 2023 on the LC500 Sport+ with enhanced this and that. I'm sure Lexus only do a few minor tweaks to get free editorial in car mags. 

Interesting read nevertheless.

Honestly, can anyone identify what they perceive as shortcomings/weaknesses on a test drive? You'd have to be intimately familiar with the earlier generation to even have a chance of pointing out the differences.

Nah, for me, it's another journalist being controversial and dumbing down a product and with no idea what they are talking about.

And there's no way they could be unless they drove one for more than a few hours which is probably all Matt Prior had to form his view. However, he is an experienced car journo and compares with other similar set-up vehicles, BMW 8 series and F-Type V8S. (see 'Rivals') 

Reading between the lines though, I think he liked it and several of the LC's shortcomings/design features have been highlighted by owners many times all of which I willingly forgive for everything else the LC offers an owner.

His gearbox comments are the opposite of every other journalist that's driven the LC as far as I can see.

It's set up as a six/eight speed with some overdrives, and yes it'll change up quick if it's in Comfort.

My experience is the exact opposite!

At least he didnt bemoan the ICE UI!

The LC gearbox changes extremely quickly in auto mode and responds to the paddles faster than I could shift manually. These comments are tosh!
