Hello Members,

As I'm a new member I wonder if any of the more experienced members can advise on my query?

I've had 4 Lexus models since 2008 - IS250 2008 (Imported from Australia), RX450, NX300H and this week picked up my brand new NX350H. I had some initial issues regarding the navigation system (user not aware that the services needed activating). Having got past some of the differences between my early NX and this new model, I had hoped that I would be able to connect wirelessly between my Android Galaxy A135G mobile, but after numerous attempts to complete this function I Google searched and found a Lexus specialist on one of the US Lexus sites which takes you through the requirements to complete both Iphone and Android wireless connection. I checked through everything that needed to be done, Bluetooth connection etc, etc. to no avail. I connected my USB/Charger cable and everything came alive, disconnecting removed the apps.

I contacted my agent at Lexus Edinburgh who informed me that the UK versions will only wirelessly connect via apple Iphone models, it appears that it's the same for all UK Lexus models. Why is it different for UK versions, surely the technology on both sides of the pond exists?

Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining, it just seems strange, I love my new NX

This has been raised before and the consensus seems to be that it is a licencing issue. Many of us hope that this will be resolved (soon!) and a software update will provide us with this feature. Some owners have decided not to wait, there are third party solutions, that are explained elsewhere in this forum.

As above.

If you don't want to wait, buy an AAWIRELESS dongle to get wireless connection.Motorola also have a similar unit but I don't know if it works.DO NOT buy from Carlinkit..their unit did not work for me and their customer service is hopeless (other members have had similar problems with them).

Quite a number of members have had success with AAWireless.

Toyota applied wireless Android Auto to 2023 Yaris. I see a light in a tunel. If there was any licensing issue it is resolved and we are waiting for software OTA updates.

During a discussion with my dealership last week (which deserves its own thread) the sales manager did state in passing that although Wireless Android Auto was origijnally hinted at for October 2022,  they have now been told it is now Q4'2023.  A full years delay.  No mention of the reason for the delay.

Thanks Michael, the most recent update I've seen. In September, I was told, 'by Christmas', unfortunately they didn't say which Christmas! 🙂

There have been a few posts previously on wireless Android Auto including the one below

Also got in the car this morning and realised I now have the Android Auto Coolwalk update - haven't figured out all the changes yet but you can now have the Google map across the full width of the screen

How do you tell if you have the Coolwalk update?

The look of the UI has changed slightly. In a nutshell, the display is now split into 2 "tiles" - a larger one for your navigation app (Google Maps; Waze; etc.) and a slightly smaller one for your music player (Spotify; YouTube Music; etc.). The music player tile now displays the album art more prominently (albeit with some "Material You" colouring embedded on top which I'd rather not have). On the right of the tiles you will find shortcuts to your most frequently used apps. You can also run Google Maps fullscreen.

It's also easier to read and respond to WhatsApp messages; etc.

Additionally, if you go into your Android Auto settings on your phone and see an option to enable "Taskbar widgets" then you have it.

If you google "Coolwalk" you'll see loads of images of it and how to use it.

Hope this helps.

I initially thought there was a fault because the circular icon, top right, to switch to the apps screen had disappeared but there is now a square icon in the bottom right.  Also if you tap the map icon while the map is in the right hand window it goes full screen.

It does help, thanks.
