Why car automatically unlocking itself ISSUE

Hi all.

My 2015 NX with ‘keyless entry’ has started automatically unlocking itself when I’m near the car with the key.

The handles are clean and the boot latch buttons seem fine. Car is locked but if I stand near it with either key it unlocks itself despite not touching the door handles or remote buttons.

Does anyone know the cause of this and if it can be easily fixed!? Thanks 🙏!

Have you tried your 2nd keyfob?

It could be a faulty keyfob

Hey, thanks for the reply. It is happening with both key fobs exactly the same (I thought the same as you) so perhaps a receiver fault?

Strong Possibility it could be a Receiver Fault and i would hazard a guess it only affects 1 door and not the door entry system control ....ie All Doors..

Just a thought (I haven’t checked) but is there a setting on the NX which enables “walk away” lock and “walk to” unlock facility?

The wife’s MX5 has this which I have disabled

If you don't physically open a door does the car lock itself again after ~20sec?

No, certainly not an NX of that age - not even sure the latest gen can do that.

It sounds like you have a faulty door handle sensor which thinks it is being touched all the time and therefore when the key comes into range it unlocks. I would double check your handles are clean (the inside bit your fingers wrap around), using some rubbing alcohol on a cloth/kitchen roll to make really sure.
