Noticed the level on my ES is a tiny bit below the max level when checking on a cold engine. It probably left the factory at that level as the vehicle is only a few months old. Over the years have checked the level on various cars with a cold engine but the manual mentions it should be checked after the engine has been run. Are other people with ES vehicles checking the oil level after running the engine for a short period?

Always check the oil level after the engine has been run up to operating temperature and then allowed to stand 10min after switching off.

Checking oil temp when cold can lead to overfilling. Car must also be on level ground

Liquid expands in higher temperatures so the dipstick must be deliberately set for this. Certainly at odds for non Toyota/Lexus vehicles have had in the past. You could argue that 0w16, 0w20 and 0w30 would have slightly different readings when hot based on expansion semantics. Would have made sense to also on the dipstick have a level that can be measured when the oil is cold
