Hello hope someone can help.I have a GS300 SEL 2005 model. It failed the MOT due to the Dip Beam light not working. Phone Lexus and they want £590 for a control unit or Ballast as they put it. The unit reference is 81107-30D31 Headlamp Control Module. Have been on amazon and other car part suppliers and getting Modules saying the Toyota Piruis will fit, does anyone know if this is right and do Lexus change there part no. Thankyou if you can help.Anthony

You really don't want to be chucking money at it by replacing parts and hope that it works. Given that a ballast is so expensive you need to check and diagnose if that is indeed the problem and that a new one will fix it.

Have you checked that it's not the bulb itself?

Whichever is the faulty one, left or right, swap it over to the other side and see if the fault moves with it. If the bulbs are both working then do the same with the ballasts but be careful. It takes about 20-25,000V to strike the arc and about 80-85V to maintain it, so turn them off and leave for 10 minutes to let any residual voltage drain off before touching anything.

Thank you for your reply Have bought new bulbs but still passenger side not working. The local garage said he would put in a universal one in as parts from Lexus are so expensive. But thiswould leave a light on the dash. thought I could use another ballast from a Toyota. Thanks again for your reply. Anthony
