Quick one on the installation. I received mine today. But wanted to check for the following (If you did not follow exactly the installation instructions. If you did, please let me know so will look at the video)

1. Placement of Microphone?

2. Placement of the Antenna

3. Usb's, did you took them out from glovebox somewhere?

4. Killswitch: Where did you keep that?

Mine didn't come with any instructions but videos on YouTube helped to some degree. In my case I had more room feeding the cables to the left side behind the headunit. 

1) placed the Microphone behind the screen 

2) placed antenna behind the screen 

3 & 4) see photo of where I've put them temporarily. Wanted to get some use out of it first and then tidy up placement in the future.

So far no technical issues other than what I've previously pointed out which were minor.

sorry to bother you but I tried installing but failed.

1. I realised I did not get the reverse camera wire:(

2. I have double lock feature in the car that was behind the screen but new screen did not have anything to screw for double lock.

3. The screen size is a bit bigger, it does not fit the space

4. There was no Audio coming from the system

5. there was an extra

Hi @MattDH,

quick one, if you can please help? I checked it again and the screen size fits well. I am still not sure how to handle double rock setting box behind the screen, but will check with the seller. 

1. In my case audio I cannot hear any audio not sure where is the audio connection from?

2. My system is always on, even when the car is turned off. Is the kill switch meant to turn it off and we have to remember to turn it on-off?

I'm not sure what you mean by "double rock setting box". Message me on here and send me a photo.

Have you changed the source at all? 

My system turns on and off with the car. Not sure what's wrong with yours. Are you sure you've got the correct harness and plugged in the correct places?

Sorry for the  mistype. It was double lock box that was  right behind the screen and was bolted to the screen. I guess the harness I received is incorrect as I was not able to utilise all the ports from the harness and a missing rev camera harness ( asked seller about it. I even compared it the screenshot you posted).

Mine is for the ML 2014 version. I was able to use all the plugs on the screen, and only had to daisy chain one cable and that was a really big one on the head unit. This is what the ports look like on the back of my head unit.

Oh wow, you were able to remove all cables. I had so many of them and was not even able to take the unit out completely . But back of my unit , non ML, looks completely different then yours. I am sure then it is all to do with the harness as rest the system was working fine and was even getting connected to the phone, but sadly without audio. So, I have 3 issues that I will contact the seller with:

1. No reverse cam harness 

2. No audio

3. System is always on.

Can i ask what is the Microphone for?  Is it not using the built-in mic? or is this specific microphone for voice commands for google/siri?
So which mic is used when making phone calls?

The provided Microphone is for when you're connecting to the android unit itself. If you connect to OEM Bluetooth then calls will use OEM mic instead

So to clarify do you need to use the mic that comes with the android unit or not?

No, you don't have to. You can still be connected to OEM Bluetooth and use the android unit for maps, music etc

@MattDH Would like to know what the experience has been like over 1 year later?

I am thinking to get an Android unit for my car now, after driving across Europe (different car but using google maps on my phone) vs a weekend trip to Manchester and the Lexus sat nav couldn't even get me on to the correct lane despite multiple attempts. 😂

Also i think it would elevate driving experience and bring a bit of modernisation to the mix.
