Non ethanol gas

I have noticed a big decline in my gas mileage this winter and I was told that because of the ethanol they put in the gasoline in winter time it will decline my gas mileage. I don’t remember this happening last year however. Can I use non-ethanol gasoline in my 250 UXH hybrid to see if that would make a difference. I could easily get 45 to 47 miles per gallon but now it struggles to get 42 miles per gallon.

Hi Philip and welcome to the LOC.

Looking at your profile ( non UK) and terminology (gas not petrol) I can only advise you to try it.

Here in the UK we can only buy E5 or E10 at mainstream gas stations so no ethanol free apart from racetracks.

Esso E5 (barring a few exceptions) is ethanol free. The 5 part means "up to" 5 percent and currently most Esso stations are 0%.

Thanks for your responses. As of yet I have not tried the non ethanol gas to experiment, but will post when I do
