No idea what I’m getting.

Recommended Posts

I ordered a new UX F sport in July last year, it got delayed and delayed and it’s finally arriving in the next couple of weeks.

I’ve tried to find out what I’m actually getting given the new 2023 upgrade, I’m told it’s likely I’ll have the upgraded version however now the have F sport design and F sport.

Why don’t they know what’s arriving? I don’t want the f sport design. The information from my dealership has been pretty bad. If when it arrives I don’t like it then what?

No I haven’t got anything, I keep asking what’s arriving but he doesn’t seem to know. How can they not know? I have a 2020 F sport now if they give me the F sport design they can poke it it’s a lesser version of my current one. Why haven’t they called me to give me the option of cancelling?

Lexus certainly in my area is not as good as they used to be.

Do you have the VIN?

If it isn't the spec you ordered then request your deposit back and walk away.

^^ This.

I assume you have an order form showing what you’ve ordered and the cost of that order. If what arrives isn’t what is reflected on your order form then I’d think you have every right to walk away - obviously depending on the terms and conditions you’ve signed up to as part of the order…

In addition, the last two Lexus I’ve ordered - an NX and an RX - showed what I’d ordered and what was being shipped on the Lexus website. Haven’t you been given that?

Mine is a lease, I still have a year left on my current but decided to trade in early. I ordered the F sport premium. There’s been no mention of the monthly payments going up given the new version is more expensive. I’m trying to find the terms and conditions of my order.

I think Lexus UK and the dealers are kept in the dark by the factory, and if they don't have components to make an F Sport they may well just produce an F Sport Design. But as customers we shouldn't have to accept this nonsense.

Given that it takes 4 weeks to get from Japan to the UK on a ship and you are expecting it in only a couple of weeks then the vehicle must already be built, with a VIN and therefore has a known specification.

Yes it’s on its way, nothing on my Lexus app about it just says left the factory and that it’s a UX.

I’m going to be really annoyed if T&Cs prevent me walking away from a car I didn’t order or want then have to pay for the privilege. I’ve emailed the dealership and said if it’s a design I don’t want it it’s not what I ordered.

All manufacturers reserve the right to amend a product specification - usually without notice.  But as Colin states, if it’s a lesser spec than the product you have paid for then, as far as you are concerned, the Lexus dealer has not fulfilled their part of the Contract.

Get your deposit back and walk away.

But if you still want an F Sport, then you might consider how you can use this circumstance to leverage an Improved deal, either with this Dealer or by approaching a rival, and seek compensation for what we used to call the ‘buggeration’ factor.

Of course, if the Dealer doesn’t know then the fault lies with Lexus and maybe a registered letter of complaint to the CEO of Lexus UK may produce a more acceptable response.

Hopeful, you’ll be delivered the Lexus you want and all will end well!

Thank you, interesting information. I’m tempted to walk away from Lexus altogether after 12 years. If it’s not what I want and I can walk I will. Just have to find something I love as much!
