How are you finding these batteries. I have the NIMH and seams to be working well providing you put the mileage in

Hi Colin

i'm only a casual short distance driver, so the EV part of the car never works, however when I do the odd 50-mile trip it kicks in so is working. i average 45 mph at this time and 55 the past summer

The UX, along with other vehicles using the latest generation of Lexus hybrid system, doesn't cut the petrol engine out as much as the old models do. It tends to prefer assisting the petrol engine. So you will benefit even on short journeys once the engine has warmed up, you just may not realise because the EV light isn't coming on that much.

At this time of year the petrol engine will run longer and harder to maintain coolant temperature to heat the cabin.

Nick, I find it surprising that the electric motor doesn't cut in on short journeys, my 5 years experience of hybrids, Kia and Lexus show just the opposite. My 2022UX is pretty quiet so it's not always obvious when you are running on electric unless you watch the energy monitor.

It should definitely do it if you come to a stop at a junction, once the petrol engine has gone through a warm up cycle.

When driving the trick to get it to cut out more is to accelerate up to speed, come off the accelerator until the EV light comes on and then lightly press it again so you can maintain speed.

I'm most proberly still learning how to drive it properly. It does cut out when i stop, so for sure it's working

I test drove a UX the other weekend and I found the engine cut out just as much as my Gen 4 Prius.  Had the AirCon on 22 Auto, just like I do in my Prius.
