Hi, I have just been to a well known Tyre company to have a 4 wheel alignment, a kerb sprung out and hit the off side wheel. Anyway the tech said that they couldn't do the alignment as the plates kept  spinning out. Has anyone else come across this. I don't want to go Lexus with their prices, but maybe that's the next step.

I've not heard of this issue but I'd steer clear of that place as those plates shouldn't spin out. Find another place that does 4 wheel alignment. If I remember correctly I paid about either £80 or £140 for full 4 wheel alignment at Lexus Stockport where I go for servicing.

I'm sure that company successfully deals with most issues .  it could just be an incompetent technician at the time

Try another brand ...  I don't think going to Lexus itself will give you best competent value tbh

Many thanks for the replies. As far as I am aware the plates are only there to allow the wheels to move easily. So I would have thought that the logical thing would be to jack the car up on the ramp and then slide the plates in. Maybe the technician wasn't used to driving an automatic and was using too much right foot. The company wasn't Kwik Fit.
