Asking for some advice based on experience for Lexus Reading. My RX is due it’s first service in November, and I’d like to hear from members with recent experience of Lexus Reading for servicing - good and bad.

I’ve bought all three of my Lexus from Swindon, and always had them serviced there too. I’ve got nothing but positive things to say about them. But, I now live near Reading and the chance of spending ten minutes to get to a servicing dealer rather than forty minutes appeals.

So, the question is - are Reading good or not?

I've used them, but not for a few years now. No real issues but at the time they didn't check wheel alignment with proper measuring equipment, just looked at tyre wear but charge standard Lexus pricing where some dealers have properly invested in equipment and give you a print out of all the geometry reading.

The not so great experience was when a mechanic left a large wrench in the bottom of my engine bay and when he couldn't find it they phoned up and asked for me to take a look. They came to my work and collected it the next day so no real inconvenience but if that had jumped up and caught in the drive belts they could have been looking at a £10k repair bill for a new F engine.

My GS F was serviced with Reading because I wouldn't trust Guildford with it after having 4 separate bad experiences on previous vehicles. But it is more than a little out of my way so the UX just goes to Guildford.

Too far - it’s a good thirty miles. I’ll still go there if the reviews of Reading are worrying as I can work it so it’s booked when I’m travelling down to the South-West - it’s just a bit more of a faff tbh.

They wouldn’t come earlier in the year when I asked for them to support a wheel refurb (I kerbed one!). They actually put me in touch with a specialist in…Reading.

I used Lexus Reading for quite a few years with my IS and GS and they were very good.

Haven't been there in a while, but I don't imagine it has changed all that much.

They were very helpful with the exception of one time, which to be fair was a little ambiguous in nature.

Overall though, I would happily go back there for my dealer requirements were I to own a Lexus again.

I used Lexus Reading for about 18 years with 4 Lexus cars and always found them really good. It has been a couple of years since my last visit but not due to the service provided...

I purchased my used IS 300h from Reading in 2016 (it was 2 years old and 40k miles) and it's been serviced and MOT'd there since - now on 123k miles. I've never had any cause for concern and they have dealt with a couple of repairs under Extended Warranty without problem and also an insurance repair through their bodyshop in Bracknell (as they are part of the Jemca group). I haven't any experience with other Lexus dealers to compare them with but been happy with them comparing to other brand dealers I've used over my lifetime. I've found the service dept attentive and been able to speak to the tech and go out on a drive with them over one issue that was difficult to describe. Also they haven't overly tried to "upsell" other add-ons and have given me some honest advice when they could have easily just taken my money for some work that I had queried. They offer courtesy cars (need to give a them a few weeks notice for a service date - £15 if you want to waive any insurance excess and replace any fuel used).

Thanks for all the replies. I’ve booked with Reading for my first service towards the end of this month and will report back.

Pleased to report my RX was serviced by Reading today. Excellent service, entirely painless (well, apart from having to pay!).

Nothing to fault, I can thoroughly recommend based on my experience today.

I was also given a UX300e as courtesy car which was interesting!

Glad to hear they are still doing well 👍

It would be nice to go back there if I ever get myself back in a Lexus again.

I had rather bad experience with their sales and the way they prepared car for sale, but as far as service goes it was ok. That said I only used them twice for service (as that was included with the sale of the car), but again in those two occasions it was the service about as I would expect, nothing amazingly good, but nothing bad either.

I would personally ask my car not to be washed, because they clearly don't know what they are doing (despite having their own car wash), but that is a feature of any Lexus dealership, so nothing particularly bad.

Funny enough they as well asked me how far I am planning to drive in courtesy car and I had some business in Milton Keynes... and they were like... ok we will figure something out as UX300e won't get you there! So it seems UX300e is their main courtesy car, which I guess makes sense!
