When you ordered NX at dealer, did you get order details there and then?

Recommended Posts

When we ordered our NX350H at our local Lexus dealer, just wondering if we were supposed to have received the order details, ie, order number etc? The salesman we dealt with told us this would all follow later (as vehicle wouldn't be available for another year).

I quizzed him a few weeks later about paperwork but he still maintained it would all follow in due course.

Just wanted to know what everyone else got when yiu placed your initial  orders? Did you get order number for example to track progress?

We didn't place order until 30th Sept 22.

I said, 'yes' to the dealer on the 4th Feb. The dealer order paperwork was dated the 6th and the deposit was taken from the account on the 7th. I would feel much more comfortable with the paperwork - I was worried when they didn't process the order on the same day!

I placed my order on  May 17th and had a confirmed order number and paper work with in three working days.  The Lexus app was also working and I could see my order status.

Worth checking with the dealer if they have been able to secure the order as at some time in October Lexus stopped taking orders for cy2023 on the NX350H.  Notice appeared on  the Lexus UK website earlier this month.

One should receive immediate confirmation of an order. NO IFS OR BUTS !

I would not put it past a Dealer to defer processing orders so as to ensure that their future monthly targets are met thus ensuring continuity of Corporate and Individuals bonus payments.

Given the current supply difficulties with Lexus, I can't think of one single reason why a dealer would delay submitting a sold order "to ensure that their future monthly targets are met". How would that work? Do you have any reason to suggest that?

I was given a “confirmation of the order” paper before I left the showroom. This was a carbon copy of the actual order which I received 2/3 days later along with other paperwork and the order appeared  in the app at the same time.

Thanks for all your comments! Will definitely be getting in touch with our local Lexus garage tomorrow to chase up our order. Everything was signed etc so assuming they just haven't passed on the documents?

I can envisage monthly targets having been met, it seems sensible to hold back those orders over and above targets to feed them into the system in a later period in order to protect bonus payments.Such action can be accommodated easily by Dealers during waiting times of 12 months or longer and buyers accepting lengthy waiting periods.

I am naturally suspicious of Car Dealers and Bankers, Dippo. You may be too one day.

Deb I notice you are in Hampshire.  Did you place your order with Snows,  Hedge End?

My order is with Snows, and despite having a copy of the receipt for the deposit and spec sheet, I did have to push them over the first few days to get a copy of the factory order confirmation.  They did give me this within 3 working days of asking but IMO they are NOT a pro-active dealership.  Since then any delivery update has been at my request and not once have they pro-actively contacted me with delivery updates.  Stay on it and keep chasing them.
