Hi all, my very first post. Four days in to Lexus ownership and very happy. Have an 07 GS350 with what I believe is a common problem. Rear view mirror distorted and lined. Lexus want £1300 as the mirror can’t he replaced without being attached to the whole unit.

I believe it’s caused by fluid relating to a darkening anti dazzle solution. I can see one company in the States who will fit a mirror and they do accept shipping from abroad. But mixed reviews with reliability. Does anyone know anywhere in the UK who can deal with it?

Many thanks.

Go to a breakers yard or an eBay breakers and try to get a used mirror? Failing that, if you can do without the dimming you could get a standard mirror glass and cut to size then stick it on the top of the faulty one.

As I have done with my Honda Legend door mirrors ....  works a treat and cost about 20 squid i think at that time

OEM replacement mirrors are stupidly expensive

Thank you Malc. I can do without auto dimming. Does anyone have an idea who could cut a mirror to size and fit it? I'm pretty handy but glass scares me!

Thank you gents. I've just bought a gorgeous GS450 and was rather hoping to find something a bit more seamless and discreet. There's a BMW mirror specialist out there who invisibly fits new mirrors but not to Lexuses https://www.mirrorjohn.com/about.php and there is an American site who repair auto dimming mirors to a Lexus for 99 dollars https://www.radar-mirror.com/mirror_repair/. Perhaps there's someone in the UK who does the equivalent.

David, there's a few on-line businesses that specifically cut glass car door mirrors ..  they might even have one in stock or like my Honda Legend that's a rare beast they just asked me to draw and send a template and By Return came a stick on cut to measure mirror .  about £20 but a couple of years back tho'

Malcolm, thanks very much. I've had a sift through Google and can only find wing mirror people, but this is a rear view mirror. If you or anyone out there knows of a company who cut rear view mirrors it'd be much appreciated.

Many thanks, David

David, not sure which of these i used but just try to call them both maybe

The one i used was so so helpful and the process ordering was simple and straightforward with me cutting a paper template to send to them and product produced by return almost .......  they didn't have a Honda Legend one in stock and very happy to cut-to-order

If they're still in business i can't believe they wouldn't be able to produce you your needed internal mirror to stick over existing

020 8998 9642  and   020  8810 8586

as i say, all-up cost incl postage was about £20

Good luck
