LS460 steering rack - does anyone rebuild them? UK.

Recommended Posts

As per the title, my rack is fine (touch wood!) but does anyone actually rebuild the steering racks, should they fail? Or do you literally have to buy them new? I'd be surprised if nobody does. Does anyone know the cost of the part direct from Lexus, without labour?

Cheers.

a quick search shows this:

cheapest one: LEXUS LS460 ELECTRIC STEERING RACK 44200-50220 (nipponautospares.com)

twice as much: Buy Genuine Toyota 4420050220 (44200-50220) Link Assy, Power Steering. Prices, fast shipping, weight - Amayama

serious money if it goes wrong

There is VGRS issue with these which dealers normally diganose as steering rack replacement but 1/2 members have mentioned this can be sorted with a software upgrade.

Certainly doesn't look like it is the £5k fix

Amayama delivered to the UK with vat  import duty etc adds about 100% to their " book price " sadly
