We have both an ES and a UX in the household (both hybrid), and I don't notice this difference. If anything, I would say the ES is better, though there's not much in it.

That's ok. Yes you could have a point there, it's as if the UX had double glazing as apposed to single glazing in the ES is the only way I can explain it.

ES has single glazing ? Not mine.

The ES range has laminated glass which is in effect single glazing, no ES has air gap glazing.

One of the benefits of having the Takumi pack is the ML Sounds which kills all ambient noise especially on 2 - 4 hour motorway trips. With the volume up at 40 and an HD source, the ambient sound has gone and there is no engine or road noise - Happy days.

I'm a bit late on this as I've only just seen the post, but I agree entirely.

However, have you noticed any vibrations on the rear view mirror.Mine vibrates to the bass tones quite noticeably...not enough to affect vision. No road or tyre noise at all.

Yes, the rear view mirror vibrates on heavier bass tracks, in slow traffic however at motorway speeds hardly any vibration.

Okay so my last post was a bit flippant which got me thinking how loud is inside the car?

using a phone app called Decibel X  I measured inside the car sitting in the drivers seat parked up on my driveway in quiet residential area.

ambient level car switched on  25dbA. That’s quiet !

reference track  Coldplay “Fix you “. At 3’ 42” ( where it’s going full pelt …..) from CD in ML system

vol 20  average 65  max 72.5 peak 77. All dbA weighting

vol 40  average 79.9 max 87.5peak 95. All
dbA  weighting

anything above level 40  u getting concert level loudness and going into the realms of temp hearing loss……..

Car may not be bouncing  but the drivers seat was ha ha ha
