Sat Nav updates on Rx450 h 2012 plate

Recommended Posts

Hi Carole,

I think your nav version is the same as mine which can be updated yourself but you need the following items first….

a 64GB USB drive which must be formatted in FAT32.

a PC to download and unzip the update files too.

I have purchased my updates from this website..

https://toyotamaps.online/

They also provide instructions on how to apply the update to your car.

I also believe other forum members have successfully used this site  as well…

https://www.satnavishop.co.uk/lexus-25-c.asp

There are numerous discussions on this forum about updates, if you search for them they might provide further information for you.

hope that helps.

I honestly wouldn't bother.

The Lexus OEM nav is slow, clunky, counter-intuitive and just downright useless. Even if you get a map update that was made yesterday, you're still running it on 10 year old software because map updates are just that - maps.

Either use your phone with Waze or Google Maps, which are updated freely and very regularly, or install something like the Grom Vline 2 that gives you Android Auto and apple CarPlay, and again gives you Waze or Google Maps.

Your welcome Carole,

feel free to shout if you need my further help.

I much prefer using my built in sat nav, twice the screen size of most mobiles and better than faffing with a mobile whilst driving, I’ve been on the same trip as other people using waze and followed the same route so there’s no obvious difference to me.

The maps get updated yearly and for me that is sufficient whilst I find postcode driven destinations work a treat.

Other solutions can be expensive and unless your technically minded, need to be installed by a specialist but at the end of the day it’s an individual subjective choice that it’s yours to make.

Cheers

Kev
