New to Lexus - 12.3 screen upgrade

Hello everyone,

I am a new Lexus GS250 owner and it has 8'' infotainment screen (being a 2012 model) as well as satnav. Ideally, I would like to upgrade it to a 12.3'' version and found a suitable display in the US from 2013 Lexus GS (hello Ebay). Been trying to find an answer on this forum's existing discussion threads whether this is feasible however to no avail. 

Has anyone done that and can the 12.3'' screen be matched with the existing head unit (that came with the 8'' screen)?

Not aware of anyone attempting this.

The screens are different between Europe and US - different part codes, so not sure if a US screen will work.

The screen is linked to the nav/headunit - it needs to be aware of the screen resolution so even if you can get the screen working it may just be a 8" display in the middle of the screen, or distorted - but it isn't going to make use of the extra screen real estate such as split screen without the headunit also being replaced. Plus the wiring / connectors may be different.

You certainly don't want to purchase a headunit from the US as they have different software, telematics, Sat radio and no DAB.

I've got the bigger screen in mine but found there were much less of them when buying the car.

It does appear so, far fewer of 12.3 screens when I was looking at the 2012-2013 GSs when buying the car.

I think they came with the Mark Levinson sound system but I could be wrong.

In the 2012 brochure, the SE, Luxury and f-sport have the small screen. The Premier with Mark Levinson System has the 12.3" screen.

ML (with larger screen) was a $$$ option on the F Sport.
