Good morning I wonder if anyone can give me some advice. My Battery on my IS250 collapsed yesterday, I am looking at the Bosch S4 Type 068 as a replacement, but wondered if anyone else has any recommendations or advice before I buy.

Many thanks for any help 🙂

As said above the choice is yours. There are quite a few makes out there Varta, Yuasa, Bosch come to mind. You just need to make sure the size is correct and the poles are at the bulk head side or you will over stretch the cabling.

I have a Bosch S4 type 068 that I fitted a few years back. I’ve found it to be excellent and obtainable for around £84 delivered. Tayna batteries had a good deal on them last month.

Thank you all, I was looking at the ones from Tayna  as they were much better value than Europarts even with their discount offers. Many thanks.

What do you mean by the Battery collapsed Sharon? Do you know the age of the Battery? Was it holding charge? What symptoms were there that caused the collapse? Is your alternator working correctly? Sorry to ask but I'd want to know why the Battery gave in before I put a new one in only for that to fail prematurely.

Hi Mr Vlad, The car worked fine on Saturday, no lazy starting or faded lights, had driven home approx 30 miles. Went to go out yesterday and no power to start the car, put jump pack on and took it on a long run no issues when driving. Got home stopped the engine tried to restart and Battery didn't hold charge and would not start, alternator is returning charge. The Battery looking at it, is a Toyota one which i believe from the receipts I have to be the original Battery (2008). hope this helps

How long a car Battery lasts depends very much on how you use it.  If you do a lot of short journeys the Battery won’t last as long as if you did fewer long journeys.

However, if you reckon around five years as an average, then you’ve already done very well!  So you’re undoubtedly right to be getting a new one.

If you do generally drive short journeys, then you might also consider investing in a good trickle charger, such as a CTEK.

Blimey. It might well be an original Battery. If it is then that surely must be a record for longest lasting Battery.

Definitely a new Battery needed. I recently bought one but also a new charger the smart type. Glad I did as the new Battery needed an overnight charge. Needed a new alternator too but Battery now is fine and dandy.

Thank you everyone for your responses. Can't praise Tayna batteries enough. Car all sorted and back on the road. 🙂
