Hi all

Just got the hard sell from a Lexus dealer at 150gbp - no clue if this is fair value or not?

Quite a sales pitch which makes me skeptical - thanks in advance

Cheers

There's nothing special about Lexus aircon. Any competent operator with the correct machine can do it.

Google Groupon ats aircon and get a voucher to have it done by ATS Euro master for ÂŁ37.99.

Check that an ATS branch near you is accepting the coupon - not all do.

Offer may expire soon.

Your profile isn't clear as to which car you've got but, assuming it's a hybrid, just make sure that they know what they're doing.

The refrigerant gas is the same but the lubricating oil that circulates around the system with it is different to conventional cars, which use PAG oil. Hybrids use ND11 which is known as a high dielectric oil, which means that it doesn't conduct electricity. PAG oil does conduct electricity and it's been shown that as little as 1% contamination of ND11 by PAG can damage the windings of the aircon compressor motor due to insulation breakdown.

First question, is it actually needed?

Does your aircon seem to be working ok, when was it last recharged?

As Herbs just mentioned - IF your car's an hybrid, you MUST have the ND11 gas used.

I had our aircon re-gassed last month at Lexus Sheffield, and the cost was ÂŁ79.99 (inc VAT)

A/C was weak over the summer - I've owned it 2 yrs now -

I dont see an urgent need for AC given the seasons

More than a bit disappointed in the pricing behaviour - I think I need to find another main dealer

Why would you even think of going to a main dealer for an aircon problem on a 10 year old car?

Plenty of good independent aircon specialists, mechanics, auto electricians and so on out there who will do a great job for less than half the price a dealer will charge.

Do we have a new trend here I wonder?

One Lexus dealership asking ÂŁ150.00 for tracking and now this one asking the same for AC.

Covid financial recovery program?
