When connecting my Android auto I get 'some' apps from my phone.

But how to I change them for the ones I want.

I have tried making a 'page' especially for my Lexus but it ignores this and only puts the one it wants

Perhaps not all the apps on the phone are compatible with AA and so aren't shown?

Android Auto and apple CarPlay are quite restrictive in which apps you can use.

Anything like YouTube or Netflix, for instance, can't be used because it's illegal for the driver to see content like that when the car is in motion and instead of 'trusting' people to make the correct decision, AA and ACP take that decision out of your hands and 'nanny' you into complying.

Only method I've found that works plug in Android auto and start my youtube music play list from phone.

This way I can use Google maps and my fav play list because I've also noticed the Lexus map is out of date and doesn't show travel update

As has been mentioned already, not all Apps are available under Android Auto (AA).

The Apps that AA can display on your car's screen (plus the order in which they appear) can be seen and customised via the AA settings on your phone. Under your phone's general settings there should be an option to change the AA settings. From there choose "Customise launcher" and make the preferred changes. YouTube Music should be one of the Apps offered here.

A few days ago I couldn't take a hands free, phone call from the screen, but I have been able to do so several times before. Anyone know why? Android phone.
