Dear All,

I saw this on YouTube the other day and thought it may be of interest. It seems very well researched and mentions that Toyota spent something like $1 billion on developing the first LS. The video showed all the models since 1989, including midlife updates.

so then . not at all surprised my brilliant 1991 Ls400 cost £/$ 1 bn to produce . I own a £1bn car 😇 . not many can say that with impunity

None. But the whole LS project was codenamed "F1" aka "Flagship 1" during it's development.
