Crossclimate Tyres for the RX

Looking forward are Michelin Crossclimates available for my RX?

Tyre size is 235/55/20 and looking at the Michelin UK website brings nothing available

but looking at the ATS website shows the Crossclimate2 is available?

ATS Euromaster's parent company is Michelin, so maybe they have the inside track on it becoming available in that size.

The website lets one order them now, as in that they are currently available. Could be a typo? How big a difference is 55 to 50. The 235/50/20 is listed on the Michelin website.

You can get CC2s in the USA in the 4RX size, so it could be there's enough demand now for them to be made available in the UK.

Or, yeah it could be a typo. A call to your local ATS centre should hopefully clarify things.

If you have a Costco account, Peter, they are currently offering up to £100 off a set of CrossClimates+ .

I don’t know if that includes your size, but in the past they did get me a set of discounted CrossClimates for my Accord despite them not being listed as one of the sizes on offer.  And if approached they may even extend it to include the CC2s.

So they seem pretty flexible.

There's a difference between crossclimates and crossclimate suv's, so I imagine the same applies to crossclimate 2's, so  make sure you're looking at the same thing and getting what you want.

Just inputting the tyre size gives that result.

I will be looking at the Crossclimates 2 as well when my tyres need replacing.

I will be going for 255 50 20.  These will have an almost identical rolling radius but just be wider tyres (which I think in itself will drive better).

Can you put these on there without issues?  Doesn't it throw out the speedometer and the route calculations a bit?

I have started to see sites with CC2s in the 235/55/20 range being advertised.  I think Michelin have finally got the hint.

Theyll fit but using simple maths - A 255 width tyre is slightly over 10 inches. That means the sidewall has to curve in almost 1 inch on either side of the wheel. The tread might not sit flat and you'll probably get what they call a "balloon" look. 

Not to mention if you're wanting cross climate tyres for the all weather ability, you'll be hindering it by going for wider tyres in the first place. A narrower tyre is better in snow

I should say Ive been using the OEM bridgestone in snow. Theyre summer tyres and are absolutely fine in dodgy conditions

I saw the CC2 now added to 235/55/20s on tyre reviews and I saw it listed on one of the resellers site. I can't remember which one. Maybe ATS and another.

It's on ATS Euromaster website that I first spotted it.  As Michelin is their parent company I contacted them (Michelin) directly for confirmation and have been advised Michelin do not currently offer the CC2 in the 235/55/20 size.

I have been talking to a lot of suppliers about a range of brands and it seems that everyone is waiting until the end of October for supplies.

Worst case I am going to have to go with the Bridgestones instead.  Excellent in the wet, so so in the dry and average on snow and ice.  I guess for that week of snow we get every year, they will do.

Must admit I'm leaning toward the Michelin  PILOT SPORT EV offering. I've always had good experience with Michelin tyres and this seems to offer an especially quiet tyre, if I can find someone who stocks it!

Also it looks like National Tyres are doing a "Payment Assist" with no interest spread over 4 or 12 months.
