Hi - hoping someone can assist - I have a 2007 IS220d sport with 100.000 miles. Recently serviced/MoT passed. Check VSC light went on and limp mode. RAC thought it was DPF but I had DPF specialist do diagnostic and they thought possibly the sensor as DPF showed as clean. They quoted £1100 for a new DPF sensor! Taken to local garage who haven’t been able to help. It has been suggested to me that I get a carbon clean as maybe the EGR and it may solve the issue? The car only does short journeys and low mileage now which doesn’t help but I’m hoping there is an easy solution as car in great condition and I don’t want to have to scrap it! Any thoughts anyone ? Many thanks jp

A “possible” cause and they want £1100.00!

For that outlay I’d want a written confirmation it would fix the problem.

If I am correct the sensor is the Pressure Differential one and sure enough the Lexus price is £669.63 but £400.00 to fit it!

Plenty of breakers on eBay, buy the part secondhand and get your local garage to fit it.

Must admit I’ve not seen any other reports of this sensor failing, usual Check VSC cause is an O2 sensor.

Welcome John.

I'm afraid to say that if you are only doing short journeys then the 'best' solution is to sell it and get something else.  Sorry, but short journeys and IS220d's don't mix well.

Having said that, for this particular issue, I agree with Steve, just get a used part and try it.  If it doesn't work, then there are other suspects, such as EGR valves, which are cheap and easy to investigate.

I had the same problem. Lexus salesman stated that to clear the vsc light their technician would drive the car home with additive in tank and rev it hard[likely to cause head gasket failure]. Eventually took the car to Stansted and dpt taken off and cleaned. Fault was faulty sensor… £35 approx on eBayimage.thumb.jpg.5c18522fdbd0f60b70ac5381582c0e78.jpg
