If I remember right they say to change it at 100K as a mandatory, it's supposed to be inspected and topped/replaced if required every 20k/24 months (though I find they will usually inspect/top it as party of the 10k/12m service).

Ahh yes this again, so if you see my thread about this matter it seems very similar.

things to note that it could be:

1- Radiator leak

2-Water pump malfunction

3-Valley plate sealant issue.

I'm leaning towards the Valley plate issue as it looks almost identical to mine. To give you an idea mine cost £1650 to get repaired by Lexus Tunbridge wells, took 2 days, but the parts took about 6 weeks to get. It generally affects the Americans rather than us due to their harsher climate but alas we aren't exempt from it now. It is definitely not known to the UK lexus garages as mine hadn't even heard about it before mine. They have to tear the engine from top down to get to the affected area, in the end i had my heat exchanger changed too.

Hope this helps.

Thanks

So 1650 was with heat exchanger or that was separate.

Cheers

FYI, The Car Care Nut just released a video about coolant leaks and briefly touches on the valley plate leak and how there's wild speculation all over the internet on what causes it (ahem).

He just says ignore the "lifetime" claims and change pink coolant every 5 years or 50k miles, or red coolant every 3 years/30k miles.

For those that don't know who he is he's a Toyota master diagnostic technician and imo he's easily one of the best of the "youtube mechanics".

Here's the video (relevant part around 17:30 onwards) https://youtu.be/MltsfDaC0rg

There is no lifetime schedule for pink coolant in the UK. 100k miles to replace the initial factory fill, then every 50k miles.

Fair enough, I guess I meant super long life rather than lifetime.
