Hi can anyone in West Midlands (nearer to Wolverhampton) recommend and independent Lexus specialist. Had my tension belt snap and pulley fall apart. Anyway this has been replaced by my garage and was told by them that the car engine does not sound right and may be time to get rid of it.  It has only done 108k miles. As a Lexus car I would like to think the 2007 model Lexus is220d se-l would be reliable to hit past the 200k miles. Recently while travelling on motorway I have noticed the car sound rough while allowing car to reduce speed to 60 mph. I would like to see if there is an independent specialist who can shed some light on what may be the cause and indicational costs so I can decide what to do

Thank you

You not aware then that this is possibly the Most troublesome and most difficult to diagnose/fix  Lexus yet? Even dealers fail to get this car running as it should, no matter how much money/parts you throw at it!

Hi Kuljit. You've said your car basically runs rough. How long have you had the car? Do you know the cars service history?

Your car has 108k miles therefore I'm assuming the MAF sensor and the throttle body have never been touched. Possible the air filter has never been replaced. Probably the spark plugs have never been replaced.

I'd investigate these points before anything else.

Browse the forum for similar issues and I'm sure you'll find answers to some of the points I've raised.

Probably not as it's a diesel 🙂

But I do agree, check the basics first.

Ooops I didn't realise its a diesel.

My experience of diesels was to make sure the EGR valve was cleaned (but on the MG ZT I had it installed the EGR bypass and the car loved it) and I always used Millers Oils diesel power ecomax additive plus the obligatory Italian tune once a week.

Definitely EGR and Dpf are both clean. Will go through the posts below and eliminate each.
