Wasn't the engine/exhaust hitting sometime was it, looks to move quite a bit if that's the downpipe just visible.

Unfortunately there has been no progress with this.  If it was the exhaust it may explain the intermittent nature of the noise but I can't spot the excess movement you are referring to.. 

Also the noise is not present over bumps, only rough roads/potholes.

Hi All,

I just wanted to be comprehensive so below is a link to a videos of the new ADT blue print LCA bushing that I installed (OE spec), the action seems very similar to the worn out one it replaced, and I haven't really noticed any improvements.  Initial noise complaint is still there but seems less frequent for some reason.  I want to say that the warmer temperatures in summer made it worse? or this new bushing may have improved things..

Also this is a clip I took of the top mount as seen under the bonnet.  Nothing amazing going on and the culprit noise did not make an appearance on this drive but you can see some movement 27 seconds in.

can any one notice anything out of the ordinary? 

This issue has dropped in priority;  the driver side rear shock is weeping excessively and with a fully loaded car the rear suspension gets noisy so some replacements are on their way, and to top things off the front drivers brake caliper noise which I thought I had fixed with new discs, pads, pins, grease and all new hardware etc has come back with a vengeance after only 5 months! so might need new calipers, unless this is somehow related to the initial noise complaint... I give up.

OR maybe a heat shield over the exhaust banging at prone places 

I had this on my Ls400 a few years back and there was zero obvious cause until my indy just checked out the heat shields and one was just resting a little on the exhaust pipe and only ever made itself known at a certain road hump in Faversham Kent ............  and nowhere else

The heat shield was sacrificial in the end .....  popped off and into the skip and not to be replaced

Wonder if this might assist you ?

The heat shield was checked and didn't show any evidence of being the culprit.  But I will keep an eye on it.

Hi mate , a bit late here , but wondering if you managed to sort out this clunking noise? I'm potentially soon about to resolve this - I'm missing a brake pad clip , which supposedly results into the exact same noise. Originally the issue was from seized guide pin for the caliper bracket , which I replaced but that's where I broke one of the clips for the break pads and I'm going to change the pads soon, hoping it will be all good

Similar issue here. Clunk infrequently nearside rear just on ridges and small sharp bumps. 2 x MOT passes later, 2 x Lexus checks= no problem found. Everything looks ship shape and tight. 2 years later...Still doing it! At first I thought it was exhaust or something loose under the back seat or in the boot.

I just have to wait until it gets so bad that it gets spotted. Nothing else can be done without replacing expensive suspension and brake components bit by bit and probably spending money for nothing.  Maybe something will eventually drop off? On the car I mean!🥶

No unfortunately I still have this issue and no closer to fixing it.  My brakes are in good condition with all clips, shims etc present and in good condition(I actually changed them with new parts thinking it might fix).  In fact I have a brand new caliper on that exact side but it hasnt affected the noise in any way.

In the first video I'm drawn to the Nut in the centre of the new bush. Something In the back of my head tells me that a slight modification needs to be done on a chassis part in that a small section needs rounding out. That Nut to me seems to be banging on that part of chassis when the suspension is on max travel. 

I'm sure I've read on here somewhere that a little section of chassis needs removing.

Out of interest how much did you pay for new rear shock absorbers? Did you get genuine Lexus or copy ones?

Vlad, I got KYB rear shocks from amazon US a few months ago for about £110 each side delivered.  Haven't fitted them yet tho.

New caliper and bracket?

Blimey that's cheap compared to genuine. I got genuine couple years back at just over £600 the pair fitted.

What's your thoughts on my comment about that centre bolt hitting the chassis when suspension is at max travel?

This has played on my mind from the beginning and from video evidence it does seem to back it up.. Only issue is when I removed the old bushing and on inspection of the bolt, shaft etc there was no erosion, damage or marks suggesting there is any collision taking place.  But yes the space in there is tight and flex of the arm could cause rubbing.

Hi Vlad, nothing as yet. For now looks like ill just have to wait until something breaks or gets bad enough to diagnose.

Could it be the shocks? Swap them over to see if the noise moves to other side. Mine does this, new coilovers getting fitted when the weather breaks.

could possibly be the sliding pins have dried out and are worn, you can get some really thick silicone grease for them but replacing them is best, other than that mine was the same noise and i have found i was missing one of he brake pad rattle clips.
