Just my personal view but it seems sad to drive this car constantly in ECO mode trying to achieve fantastic fuel economy. I would have purchased a Prius if that was my aim in life. I drive ECO in town, Normal out of town and Sport on dual/motorways and I've averaged 53.6MPG over the last 7/8 months so includes winter and summer. I'm very happy with that and have fun at times experiencing what is on offer in the the three modes. As I say, that it just my view and each to their own.

Agreed, I would only use Eco mode when low on fuel in the middle of nowhere.

Serious question,

I am looking at selling my stunning super low mileage Jaguar E-Pace R-Dynamic diesel due to the dreadful fuel economy. I'm lucky if i achieve 39mpg and last month i had the dreaded DPF blocked fault that maint the car went into limp mode and ended up costing me a pretty penny to sort!

I mainly do non motorway short journeys (home to work 9 miles) and the occasional motorway runs maybe once or twice a month. After the DPF blocked, the Jaguar specialist i used to clean it told me that the car really isn't best suited for our journeys and general style of driving.

Therefore i'm looking for a more suitable car and i'm really not ready to make that jump to all electric, so the next best option appears to be hybrid. After hours on the tinterweb, and the odd dealership visit i ended up in my local Lexus showroom and mainly due to economy, my focus was towards the UX250h.

Having never owned a hybrid before, i would really appreciate real and honest feedback from Lexus hybrid owners rather than the sugar-coated spiel from sales people.

Did you guys go for hybrids for any specific reason. Was it mainly economy or to secure a smoother driving experience?

I cannot answer the question you ask better than who asked “to be or not to be”.

But can tell you about why we did choose a Lexus CT. We were looking to replace our old and rather well-kept VW Golf 2.0tdi DSG as it was from 2005 and was fuming black out of exhaust when accelerating.

My wife saw a CT and said she liked the look of it and then we bought a Luxury; with all the nice things in it and what I appreciate the most: the Mark Levinson audio.

Took less than a week to really be happy with that choice. Smooth driving, comfortable and rather noiseless (low noise).

Do not know if you live in a flat or mountainous area, but if a flat you will get good fuel economy if not driving with a heavy right foot. If you live in a place where the hybrid Battery will be full while you still drive down hills a lot of the regenerated energy will be wasted. Ask me how I know.

The car has only had service when needed (once a year) and only windshield wipers have been changed other than the usual oil and maybe filters. Gasoline and windshield washer fluid also. Correct air pressure is important for fuel economy. Rather slightly high than low. Air pressure we control when remember, and it keeps air pressure better than any car we have had before (more than 20 probably even more than 30); biggest car we have had was a MB 300SEL 6.3, most funny car was a Lancia EVO 2, smallest car we have had a Smart Roadster Coupé.

Reliability of the Lexus cars are high. Even the interior of the smallest of Lexus has nice, soft, durable, high-quality materials in it. Perforated soft and durable (2016 car seats still look new) Vegan Leather (loved by Paul McCartney, he made a song called “Motor of love”) and never hot even here where we live. When we care here, we brought our Honda Accord Coupé with real leather seats and they were very hot here, close to not nice. The CT has the very best audio we ever had in any car: Becker, Nakamichi, Pioneer, Sony, the factory built-in was never good. A family member has a nice big Porsche and the expensive audio in the very expensive car is not as good as The Mark Levinson in the little CT from Lexus. When McCartney like it, it cannot be bad, he knows something about sound. Also, a lot of comfort things, too long to list, have already written enough.

As said before, if you should hybrid or not hybrid only you can find out. We did not choose to hybrid; my wife loved the design of the car and we are happy with it.

Does Paul McCartney drive a CT or I misunderstood you?

Have no idea what he drives or if he drive or has a chauffeur. If he has a Lexus I doubt it is or was a CT.

He made a CD for Lexus and was promoting it on a tour once a long time ago. Motor of love.

If he loved the car, the audio system in the car, the vegan leather or anything else you have to ask him. Not sure if Lexus or anybody have enough money to pay him to do or say something he does not approve.

I can't get over your love
No matter how hard life seems,
There's a light in my dreams
Thanks to you.
My friends keep asking me why
There's such a smile on my face,
There's a home at my place,
Thanks to you.
I don't want anything from you,
Turn on your motor of love.
Motor of love, motor of love.
Heavenly father look down from above,
I can't get over your powerful motor of love.
I can't get over your love
No matter how lost I feel,
I know my love is real,
Thanks to you.
You simply reached out your hand
And touched me deep in my soul,
I came in out of the cold,
Thanks to you.
I won't steal anything from you,
You give me more than enough.
Motor of love, motor of love.
Heavenly father look down from above,
I can't get over your powerful motor of love.
There was a time
When I was down and counted out,
Well I remember I felt so bad
I nearly threw away,
Nearly threw away the keys.
Motor of love, motor of love.
Heavenly father look down from above,
Motor of love, motor of love.
Heavenly father look down from above,
I can't get over your powerful
Motor of love.

I believe his motor of love was not a car, but it was used promoting one.
