When our Son qualified as a doctor I was tempted to buy BO08 DOC for the event, luckily I didn’t as he never went into plastics 🤣

 

But we both have our own plates which are related to the town we live in, as are many here, handy in Summer when picking the locals from the tourists.

I don't have a personal plate.  I'd only really want one that was truly meaningful (SF1, for example) and they are way, way outside my price range.

I don't know if it's because I've been noticing Lexus' more since I ordered one, but it does seem to me that a Lexus is more likely to have a personal plate than most other cars.  Is that true?

In my household the 3 cars we have are all on personal plates and  2 on retention…. And every car ive had going back possible 30yrs has had a personal plate on it…. Are’s range from hundreds of £ up to thousands, its personal preference wether anyone gets one or not, 

bit like modding a car, some ppl like too others prefer standard…strange old world if we all liked the same things

My wife and I both had cheapish personal plates --Character/single digit/DCM/DBM a long time ago but we thought they were a bit pretentious,so we traded them in for some completley random dateless plates-digit digit digit  character character character.

Eventually I ended up buying a Lexus, which might start to make my plate *** USU look a bit pretentious again.

To get back to the original thread of this,I have used Elite Registrations in Devizes each time--very straightforward and sensible people to deal with--no silly prices,good people to deal with.

My car came with H18 BRO valued at £600. I don’t particularly like it, never been into personalised plates, but is it worth the hassle to change back to the original plate?

Unfortunately Graham the world, especially for young people, is being corralled and driven into accepting a monochrome singular way of expressing any opinion on anything otherwise you will be denounced. Once you can control people's words you can control them and therefore their perception of self-choice. What's the betting on how many private plates in North Korea? 😎

I should think the average North Korean would be lucky to have a plate to eat off, let alone put on his car/rickshaw/bicycle/donkey..wait a minute he ate that last week.

I have never had a person plate. My SC had a person plate on it before I bought it but it didn’t come with the car. I am not against them at all but I do find most of them that are trying to say a word look stupid when you are using a number to represent a letter unless it is a one or nought representing I or O. Some of them I can’t for the life of me work out what it is supposed to say.  I would love one that actually says a word. Obvious Paul Daniel's had ‘MAGIC’ and I have seen ‘VISION’. Trouble is they go for silly money. I did see GIYND for about £1200 a few years back which I thought was quite close to GLYN and if it had J instead of D on the end I might have considered it. Who knows I might buy one at some point but odds are low on finding some great for little money. Guess I’ll have to change my name it’s probably an easier and cheaper option.

Thanks for that—I didn't know it, but fortunately the plate I've paid for cost peanuts, so It's one less thing to worry about. I may decide not to fit it for a while: I may even get used to the existing number, so I'll see how things go.

However I should have said you can protect your plate via your insurance company for an additional premium of course 🤠

When we had a car written off we were asked if it had a personalised registration and if so to put it on retention before the claim is settled. Otherwise one loses the rights to use the registration and it passes with the vehicle to the insurance company.

My initials are on the expensive side so I've never had a plate.

A nice car with a nice plate can look good though. One of the best examples I've seen was a Ferrari F50 in Edinburgh with the plate PAS510N.

Actually John it was given to Fiona Richmond by Paul Raymond of Raymond's Revue bar Soho. He had it on his Rolls Royce and an E-type. 😎

Some years ago on the M6 I did see Pen 15 on a red MB 450slc 😱
