Whereas it is pronounced Peni (like penny) stone.

I also don't want to hear about places Scratchy Bottom, Lower Swell or Nether Wallop! Even if I do find the last one amusing and possibly painful.

My wife and I were on holiday driving around the Czech Republic and passed through a little village called Horni Bolikov.

That's easy, there's a well known village in Kent named Pratts Bottom that has the sign stolen more often than any other.
