It comes with a sunroof, which I didn't expect, and the colour the very rare TERRANE KHAKI- METALLIC. i had to pay thou the same price as the cancelled order of £36'000 so i guess without any wait time not too bad

Hi guys. i chose Lexus as the dealership is way superior to any other in my area Mercedes/Audi/ Range Rover BMW etc and hope that continues. The car itself so far is spot on, despite the infotainment system being the weakest link. It has Dunlop run flat tyres from Japan and has a sunroof and cream leather seating

You were lucky to get the Dunlop run flat tyres as most UX come with Bridgestone which are noisier and reputedly give a harder ride.

Your right roger, the UX and all the other types of models ES/NX etc in the showroom had all got Bridgestone on them

My UX ex demo came with Dunlops RF was registered end March so wonder if they are on later deliveries?

i have had the car one week now and am very impressed all round with it. The fine detail i would never have concerned myself with if it had not been through my initial new purchase of a Toyota corolla which was poor all-round from paintwork to odd clunks and bits missing like engine cover bonnet mat etc because that's how Toyota will be building in future, like it or lump it 

I had to pay £10'000 extra for the Lexus, but for the money it's far superior to any Toyota at that price point in the fine detail department and the excellent drive despite some say the run flat tyres are noisy

Just an update now that I have had the car 2 weeks. Overall the car is excellent apart from the black painted alloys. One of the alloys had a concealed chip on delivery, but was missed by the sales lady and myself because someone had marked the chip in with a black pen, hence it went unnoticed. The manager said that he coulden't replace the alloy, only have it refurbished, of which i didn't won’t. The guy they use for wheel refurbishments was on site had he said it would look different as good as he was, so we had a heated argument with the dealer and left. 

My advice is, as iv'e always said, the dealer is not your friend and never could be. Prior to this, everyone was all smiles, but now i'm enemy number one. 

i have a paint body specialist friend of 30 years who has touch up the chip and is now satisfactory but has warned me the paint on these alloys is poor albeit they look perfect so another lesson learned don't buy a car with black painted alloys as they will chip very easily and as he knows me well feels i made a bad choice in what is a very nice car. i told him that was the only choice on my model, had i got the lesser model or the two dearer models then i would have had just standard alloys and everything would have been OK.

As for the Dunlop run flat tyres' no problem apart from the excessive wheel wights on each wheel. Would i buy another Lexus, yes, but with more due diligence from the Lexus franchise of dealers. As I've always said on the purchase everyone's happy, but with any type of comeback you're the villain and not welcome any more

I appreciate that this is very easy for me to say, Nick, but a chip on a wheel that can be effectively concealed by a spot of ink is possibly not the worst thing to fall out with the Dealer over.
By the sounds of it, you’ve actually got virtually instant delivery of a brand new, well specified Lexus at a very attractive price.  In the grand scheme of things…a rather sweet deal, I would have thought.

I suspect those painted alloys will suffer further minor blemishes in the natural course of being used, so don’t let this one black mark take the shine off your pleasure in owning a fine, new car.  😊

If you have some spare cash and plan to keep the car for some time, now is the ideal time to have it Detailed.  There’s nothing a Detailer likes better than to work on a new car.

Get a really good ceramic finish applied to the bodywork and wheels.  Possibly even get the front wrapped for extra protection.  

Right now the cost will represent a relatively small percentage of what you’ve already invested.  

I also invested in a set of Alloygators - plastic rim protectors for low profile alloys.  If you get upset over a paint blemish on the wheel, I fear for your health if you kerb an alloy!

Apart from which, just enjoy it!

Thanks once again, Len. i've never kerb an alloy in my 50 years of driving, so was never concerned about that aspect. But as this is my first time with a painted alloy i will need to be more careful than I already am. My health is not good as my work /home lifestyle has always been takumi like and living in the uk has not been at all helpful being the odd man out. I will try to get to look into finding a detailer, which i'm sure will be beneficial in going forward.

Interesting experience. I recently purchased a 2021 UX 250h premium sport edition with 9200 miles. I have it 6 weeks and will be getting rid of it. This is the nosiest and most uncomfortable car I have owned in 44 years of driving. From what I have read the tyres are a major factor. You can feel every bump in the road. I live in Northern Ireland and our roads are poor but this car exaggerates this. Previous car VW golf 1.4 Tsi and I had it for 6 years was quiet and smooth. My wife’s 6 months old Yaris design is far quieter than the UX. Also the Yaris drive is a lot smoother. Yaris is 1.5 hybrid.  Previously owed 3 avensis, 2 Yaris, Rav. 2 BMWS, 3 Peugeots   I am so disappointed in the UX. I have always associated Lexus with quiet and smooth driving cars. Another reason I purchased was the reliability record of Lexus but this means nothing if the car is dreadful to drive. My test drive was mostly on a short motorway section so very difficult to spot the noise issues.

Tbf - whilst I changed mine for completely different reasons, boredom mainly, I found mine amazingly quiet and relaxing - it had Dunlop run flats on rather  Bridgestone and might be the difference on yours - try changing the rubbers before binning it?

The UX can be bumpy on bad roads like we have near Gatwick /Crawley, but I have yet to find ANY car that was better on our roads

If it has Bridgestone RF's then get them changed. Mine's like a different vehicle now having suffered much the same experience. We too have a Yaris and they are indeed lovely and are pretty quiet but they jar your teeth when hitting potholes that the UX glides over.

Tyres are Bridgestone run flats 18” and after doing research on the web they are considered to be very noisy. Dunlops seem to be a lot better from the reports. To be honest I did not even consider this as an issue with a Lexus before purchase. My old diesel avensis cars cruising at 40-60 were quieter than this UX. Anyway another lesson learned the hard way.

I don’t find mine noisier than a van even with RFTs on.  Don’t know what’s going on there.

May seem like an obvious question, but is the car running at the correct factory tyre pressures?  

Dealership have a habit of over inflating tyres when a car is serviced, not sure why.  The first thing I do after a service is to lower them to the correct pressure as it makes a huge difference.

These tyres are at 2.3 bar as recommended. Also this model does not have the adaptive suspension system which may have improved the ride. It is on the F sport model. Obviously I did not do enough research. From a lot of checking on the web the Bridgestone run flat tyres are considered noisy and hard. I believe Lexus now are supplying Dunlops which are reported to be quieter and offer a more comfortable ride. The UX is ok on the motorway but on A and B roads where most of our driving is done I am not happy with it. The UX was the perfect size as there is just 2 of us and size issues re back seats and boot was not an issue for us. I will be switching to a new Corolla.
