As requested, here are a few pics of the slightly different 5.0 V8 2+2 that has finally filled the hole that my RCF Carbon left.

I completely understand if a moderator wants to remove this thread as it is off topic. But in the meantime, here are some early pics taken when buying the car. More to follow once work is done.  Happily take questions and also appreciate all thoughts. T

I’ll allow it even though it’s German 😀

I do hope that’s not your blood pressure in picture 6.

What made you go for this?

Looks in lovely condition from the pictures, such an odd shape but unmistakeable!

Congratulation.

It is a very nice and comfortable car. If it has been kept by the former owner it will be reliable.

Nr. 4 of Porsche cars on my list.

Would have loved a 969, RS or a 916, but 928 is for long travel a very good choice, maybe the best from a German factory.

Well the first two are definitely made of unobtainium now!…not so much the 916, it really is the ugly duckling of their history. Funny how people have become fond of it again. Like the 924, for whatever reason it’s found it’s audience finally…

As for the why, why do any of us put value against any of this stuff? It’s definitely not rational.

If it were we would be having this conversation over at the RC200h forum.

For me the 928 was always a hero car. I was in my teens in the early nineties when this car was king of the hill. I used to read my dads hand-me-down Car and Performance Car and I just loved the look of it. It also won Top Trumps as it was, for a long time, the most powerful normally aspirated v8 of any production car. Which was quite a bragging right.

Then there was Risky Business and Weird Science.

Finally my dads best mate had one. My dad had a mondeo at the time. This was like a spaceship!

You are right Tom, the first 2 are out of reach and the 916 in good shape also. Had fun in a 916 with a 2L turbo engine in it in Sweden while up there having a 911 Turbo tuned by Stig. Reason for liking the 916 more than the 911 is handling. 911 is fast, reliable and so on, but 916 is a go-cart that can be street legal.

Now getting older a CT is all we need. Hope it will last till it is possible to drive around in a combustion engined car fuelled with green hydrogen. Hope we last that long in good condition.

Since I requested it, just wanted to say thanks to Tom for the thread 👍

I remember driving a 928 GT Manual when I was about 20 years old and being totally amazed!  I just love the shape, especially the facelift.  Although, if I am being completely honest, my all time favourite front engined Porsche is a 944 Turbo, but the 928 isn't far behind!

Please do keep us posted on developments and there is no such thing as too many pictures 🙂

Amazing!

It wasn't a poke of 'wtf did you buy that for', was just curious as RC F to a 928 is a decent jump. Love hearing the stories/ inspirations behind a car purchase!

Hope you enjoy it.

I promised I would come back once (most) of the work was done. So here we are…engine pretty much rebuilt. Suspension bushes all done. Ecu and Maf recalibrated. Wheels refurbed. Spoiler replaced. Bodywork done(ish). It runs beautifully and is IMMENSE to drive. A real event. Will be at RetroRides at Goodwood a week tomorrow if anyone’s planning on going. We’ll be in the ‘White Room’.
