Hello all.. just coming up a year now since I've had my 2010 IS 250C SE (1) in pearlescent white with ivory leather.. I am still wowed by it and everyone that sees it so am a very proud owner, to say the least! Am in the Midlands UK and have just recently set up a Facebook group for fellow Midlands owners (Lexus Mids UK) with a view to drive outs and breakfast meet ups as well as local car shows..

Wished I'd bought Lexus before.. I want my life over again please!

Baz 👍😎

Welcome to you.

Nice car in the first real interesting colour ever made, metallic shimmering, it shone differently depending on from what angle we saw the car. Saw that colour a month after bought a Supra 3L detachable roof (****ty car, unstable with roof part taken off and constantly yellow light in engine control when driving faster than 130km/h and no Toyota workshop could find any error) 1985; kept the car only 3 - 4 months. Next car a Nissan ZX again, no problem taking the roof parts off, it was steering perfect and so much better than the Supra. In white metallic of course.

We should also have bought a Lexus earlier, but it first happened when we were retired and bought the CT200h. Very comfortable with so many comfort features and still not a soft sofa.

I often wondered why designing a 2 door car is easier for the companies making a good looking car, but it certainly seems to be the case.

As promised and requested, my brief motoring history.

Cars attached:

Porsche 944 Lux 2.5 1982 (in my family since 1989, until recently)

Chrysler 300C 3L 2007 - ‘The Beast’ - daily driver til I semi retired 2020

Saab 9.3 Aero 210 bhp 2004 - owned for a brief time before my IS250C

After selling The Beast in 2020 I purchased the Saab convertible as a ‘do-up’ project/summer car, while still owning the 944. As mentioned previous, the 944 was purchased in 1989 by my late brother Ted Barnett who was a proud owner and a driving force within the early days of Porsche Club GB. After his untimely death in 1998 the ownership did go to Ted’s partner but was then sold to me in 2005, and had been mine ever since until recently. I too, cherished the 944 and endeavoured to not only keep it in pristine condition inside and out like my late brother, but to also contribute as much as possible to the Club (PCGB) in his memory. Sadly over the last year, my health and size (arthritis in left hip and knees, 6’7”) doesn’t help having a small Porsche to own so I made the tough decision to find a 2 door sports convertible with auto transmission to combine the 944 with the Saab convertible so I only have 1 car and easier for me to get in/out and drive.. hence I saw the Lexus IS250C SE(1) on Autotrader and went and bought it immediately.. Stupidly I sold the 944 at a Classic Car Auction at the NEC and unfortunately lost around 12k as it sold for very little. Bearing in mind it had it’s original paintwork (Siena red metallic, unique to 1983 models only), original cookie cutter wheels sporting Pirelli P6000 replicas which was the tyre apparently on the 944 when it came off the production line in the early 80’s and only 130k on the clock for a coming up 40 yr old car. I was gutted with the sale as you can imagine!

My private number plate now on the Lexus (BAZ 9144) reminds me of many years with the 944 so not all bad..!

LOVING MY LEXUS!!

Hope that wasn’t too boring lol

Thank you so much Baz. Another read which I enjoyed.

You have had some quality cars, all of which I can identify with.

In my VW days (1200 Beetle, 2 Type3 Fastback 1600E) in the late 60`s and early 70`s, I toyed with the idea of buying a VW inspired Porsche. It was a 914, which morphed into the 924 and latterly the 944, the love of your life.

In the early 90`s I had my first Mercedes-a W202 Diesel and its colour was Bornite, not unlike what seems to be the colour of your Saab Convertible. Bornite remains my favourite colour notwithstanding that it is no longer available.

My last Mercedes-an E Class Estate (W210/211) provided if I`m not very much mistaken the Engine, Gearbox and transmission of the Chrysler 300c- the second car in your pictures.

I bought my first and only Lexus-a GS- in 2013,following a serious illness .I was enthralled by what I was reading about the marque and set out my stall to have one. It is without doubt the most complete and certainly the most reliable vehicle I have ever owned. It does not shout at one like other cars do. It is a reticent character which says, "I am here, tell me where we are going and I will take you there-and bring you home."

Many years ago I remember the original Honest John (Peter Lorimer) writing of the Lexus IS 6 cylinder car (yours, I think) "this is the most reliable car on the Planet !"

You have chosen wisely and I`m certain that you will enjoy each other`s company for many years.

Baz, I look forward to reading your future Postings.Thank you for joining our LOC.
