23000 miles ain't at all bad for the full life of many tyres eh !

Thinking the ATS advisor is possibly just some sort of dimwit without too much of a clue about his job

Most of them people dont know what they are doing - hence me saying find an indy who knows what they are doing, I knew a guy in Southampton who has retired but he was a wizard and could sort a car out in 20 minutes or so but he knew what to do.

Something I didn’t mention was I thought it was a harder ride driving home after fitting the new tyres. So checking the pressures yesterday each tyre was 3bar instead of the recommended 2.3bar. That’s 30% over inflated.

That's a safety hazard, no? In the US you'd be filing for court already

When Shakespeare wrote "let's kill all the lawyers" did he have a point? 🤔

Sorry for reviving an old topic, but I have some news about the 150 quid wheel alignment at Lexus.

I got the same quote last month from my local, but I told them I would think about it. Then, I thought I would bite the bullet and go head.

As I was speaking to the service manager, I asked him why so expensive. He told me right away that ''their system pricing is all over the place'' and re-quote me at 79 GBP.

I dropped my car off for service, 4 premium tires and full alignment (laser).

I get my car back and the steering wheel is crooked, 1 tire looses 6psi every 24h , and I have been waiting 2 days to hear back after making complaint !!!!

What is happening there? I've noticed that their best staff are gone and they were acquired by some other franchise, possibly more than once in the last 2 years !

My local tyre garage I charge £15/£20 for the front wheel only laser alignment, they have many taxi drivers customers.

The 4 wheel alignment is  more comprehensive and £50 to £70 may be right price. Especially, if you car us pulling or your tyes are wearing out unevenly.

I would like say domething. I dont want to upset anyone and  I respect the dealers, but please don't assume the dealers have the knowledge on everything, they don't.

But do your research, ask questions and go to a reputable tyre specialist indy, they will look after you, give you great advice and look after you, but you  will save money for something else.

On all my recent cars I use Pareto principle  80% Indy and 20% dealer (usually parts)  and the money I save goes towards new tyres etc.
