Not sure about waxing but mine will be going for detailing and ceramic coating the day after delivery.

Not everybody’s cup of tea but my current RX still glistens and is as easy to clean as when it was first treated to the same 4.5 years ago.

Paul beat me to it, sort of. I was going to say that someone on these forums (can't remember who) took the car out of the showroom and then spent the best part of four days I think it was, machine polishing, waxing, and so on - so I think the answer is, do it whenever you want.

Thank you to both of you  . How do you select a detailing and ceramic coating  detailing company . I wouldn't have a clue.
I am based Newcastle Upon Tyne

Not sure about independents but Lexus Edinburgh (not too far away) are going to give my car a ceramic coating (when it arrives!) as part of the purchase deal. Note that a ceramic coating professionally applied is not the same as using a ceramic snow foam.

Harrier Man thank you . No I just use normal snow foam

Getting a local pro to detail,  polish and ceramic coat your new car will be the best £250 odd quid you'll spend!!

I use a guy who has done 3 cars for me in the past. Too far from you unfortunately (Suffolk) but, if you do go this route, make sure you use one who is accredited by a reputable manufacturer.

The guy that will be doing mine only now uses Gtechniq products, they have been improved considerably over the past 4 years, although the Kamikaze products he used on my RX have lived up to their reputation.

Personally I would cancel that and go to a proper detailer. detailing, ceramic coatings and so on are a specialised skill on their own. Horses for courses as the saying goes.

As always, word of mouth recommendation is the best, but failing that just Google for car detailers in your area and look at reviews.

This may be too far for you (having said that, we bought our car at Lexus Teesside and it's a lovely two-hour run) but this is a company here in Preston that scores 4.8 out of 5 stars over 22 reviews. There's also Sunnybank Car detailing (no website) who score 5.0 out of 5 stars over 10 reviews.

Generally speaking, I start thinking about giving my car a waxing when rainwater on the body shows signs of not beading.  As specifically regards a new car, I don’t think I’ve ever waxed one before 6-9 months after regular weekly washes with a good shampoo.
