Anyone with any experience of the Hayward and Scott exhaust system available for the RCF.  Looks to be an axle back system but as I’m after noise rather than performance, not too fussed about this.  There is a YouTube video of one and it sounds nice!  
 

Am also open to installing a 2nd hand exhaust from a different brand should anyone have one they are willing to sell.

I’ve never seen an F exhaust that doesn’t come with compromises e.g. drone.

I’d personally only entertain a switchable system.

If drone is not an issue for you - Quicksilver is good.

I’m not too fussed about a switchable system, I’d end up driving with valves open all the time so seems to not fit my needs.  Similarly, the commute I have is on back roads so don’t tend to sit at a constant RPM for any length of time and drone becomes less of an issue.  Not sure how I feel about the quicksilver carbon tips to be honest and looks to be twice the cost of the Hayward and Scott exhaust.

Regarding the drone, most of the exhausts won't drone at motorway speeds, but more of an issue when trying to make medium paced progress - so getting some drone is unavoidable I'm afraid - unless you have a valved solution.

I have to say that with the benefit of hindsight I'd have bought a valved system. But I would have only bought one secondhand as new they are a bit eye watering and it would be nice to have the option. Having said that I have yet to find a problem with drone that I haven't been able adjust to. As I drive mine in Sport + and manual it's very easy to just either go down a gear or up or feather the throttle to remove it. I would never go back to a standard exhaust after having the Quicksilver or equivalent, and my neighbours love the low thunder of mine in the distance.

I have the Hayward and Scott catback exhaust system on my IsF.

It passed the MOT emissions and noise checks with no problems.

The minimal drone is not too intrusive and is worth putting up with for the glorious orchestra that comes with a bit of throttle, turning into a racing howl at higher revs.

The sound is not as harsh as the nasty Mercedes/Range rover/Mustang V8s with loud exhausts. It is just a super classic V8 rumble and more pleasing to the ear.

Thanks for this.  I must admit, unless I can find a reasonably priced used exhaust someone is willing to sell then the H+S option is probably my preffered.  My man maths accepts £1k+ but  I struggle to stomach £2k+ for an exhaust system.  I have enquired with them regarding an option to install a mid pipe also but as its the bank holiday I guess it may be next week before I hear anything.  Addtionally, I live in Scotland so really want something I can install myself, Im an engineer so am pretty handy but anything that requires me to visit a manufacturer probably isnt going to work for me.

I had it delivered and got a local exhaust specialist to install it. He said it was a good fit to the original mountings and no problems £150.

I installed the Quicksilver myself, it was dead easy although I did hire the use of a proper car ramp from a company that fortunately for me set up in business as ramp hire depot (they have 4 you can hire) just down the road from me so I booked an hour and spent the remaining time checking and spraying stuff with WD40

Had a Scott once.

Before we had the year starting with a 2 it was one of the really good ones. So quiet that I could hear the bird singing when driving 😇

I’ve just ordered one of these from Hayward and Scott for my RCF. 
Should have it in around a month.

Birma, I’ve just ordered the Hayward and Scott axle back exhaust back boxes. 
Did you have to replace the exhaust gasket between the centre section and the back box pipe? Or is it just a one for one swap?

As far as I can remember I left the rather large mesh type gasket in the main exhaust, or rather they were well and truly stuck in it. So hopefully your new exhaust will have the recessed section which will enable it to fit snuggly, I had a tube of exhaust goo that I smeared over the mesh gasket so as to get a decent seal. Just check the bolts, I put in four extended bolts as the standard bolts were too short. As I'd bought the Quicksilver secondhand no fitting kit was present.

How interesting, did you just buy it in the online shop?  Probably going to order mine this weekend.  I did send them an email but they never got back to me, did you manage to talk to anyone?

Yes mate. I phoned them up as I’m pretty old fashioned and like to talk to people. 
I got put through to the fabricator (Alex or Alan) can’t remember. 
Super helpful and tailored it to how I wanted it. 
I would recommend speaking to them as if they are building a set for me it would be helpful if they are using the same jig to make yours from mine. If you catch my drift?

I might just give them a ring on Monday in that case.  You mention tailoring, what options are there?  I’m not after the black tips.

I went for the chrome tips as I like something to polish and clean. And they will stand out more. 
I asked for them to be as loud as possible and he said not a problem. I get the impression that they can quieten them down if you liked. 
I want as loud as possible as the resonators and cats do a good job of taking the volume out of it anyway.

Sounds like we are after something similar.  I too want loads of noise!  Thanks for the info.  I’ll let you know how I get on.

Any feedback on the H&S?

Ive seen the Quicksilver has jumped up to £2900.. which is just a nope from me

Many apologies regarding an update.  Fitting is fine, quality is good and car sounds much better.  Looks good on the car with tips filling the bumper far better.  Not too loud, just about right.

Would wholeheartedly recommend.
