Hi, I have had my IS 250 for about a year now, and decided to replace the cabin filter. Found that the recirculatory damper was broken (the button having no effect) and the damper can be easily moved by hand. No I didn't break it.  My question is simple as a repair is not worth while; for fresh air should the damper be up or down?

What a lovely car to drive very often drive from South Yorkshire down to West Sussex. Four or five hours in one go is no problem. The car has done 98000 miles. have just changed the headlights for Vland, what a difference so much better.

closed when it's facing you is for outside air, when you can see the filter it's for recirculation.

Depending on how it's broken it could be very simple to repair, with epoxy glue, i think there's a couple of guides.
