How do I change the settings for the door exit. At the moment I can only let a passenger out by stopping the engine and opening the drivers door surely there must be a different way

Have you tried pressing the unlock button on the driver's door armrest?

On my 350h if you place it in P the doors are unlocked. If not I unlock the doors from the button on drivers armrest. Finding this a nuisance at the moment as just moving out of the parking bay is locking the doors leaving my wife tugging at the handle trying to get in.

Surely the door should always unlock from the inside? Obviously the vehicle should be stopped but irrespective of the lock settings passengers should be able to open them from inside.

If these are rear seat passengers maybe the child lock is set?

Does this help? From page 732 of the manual. Also something on page 138.

"To prevent a door from being opened accidentally, when the power switch is in ON, after an inside manual release handle is operated once, operation will automatically be disabled after approximately 1 second."

You can change the settings so that the doors will automatically unlock when you shift into Park.

On the Infotainment screen go to Settings > Vehicle customize > Door control > Auto unlock

I assume that you have the automatic door lock function set to activate when you take the car out of Park. This can be deactivated so that the doors will only lock automatically when the car reaches a certain speed (something like 3 mph I believe). This setting can be changed in the same place in the Infotainment system as that referenced in my post above.

Many thanks, just noticed this while watching the American lady explain more settings on line.

If it's any help, the passenger can open their door by pressing the unlock button on their armrest first or by physically pulling the lever twice.
