Can anyone tell me if my 2021 NX 300H has the eCall SOS system installed and if so, how would one activate it manually in an emergency. I understand that if installed it would automatically transmit the car's position and notify emergency services in the event of a major accident. I have searched the user manual and searched for a "activation button" but both have not yielded results.
Thanks

Look in the overhead control panel, where the interior lights are and between the two map reading lights should be a flap. Pull that down and the button is revealed.

Is that a thing in UK cars now? I thought it was only USA but could never understand why we didn't get it.

I have it in mine, so it appears the UK cars have joined in. Button location as described above. No activation required.

See this for UK specific info https://nationalhighways.co.uk/road-safety/ecall/

Your 2nd gen 2021 NX should have it, it's standard across the range https://media.lexus.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/sites/3/pdf/210927M-Full-Release-2.pdf see page 28

I believe this e-call/SOS system is now mandatory required by EU regulation

The eCall system is described in Section 7.1 page 570 of the 450h+ manual, including picture of the SOS button location (sorry but I couldn't copy it here on this computer).

Can you open that part in the middle? Perhaps a quick push or tap releases it?

Thanks for the response Malcolm but my NX is the same as Phillip's, no mention of eCall in my handbook and no button in the light display. My manual does have a section 7 covering emergency procedures but eCall isn't mentioned. I can only conclude that the 2021 NX Premium Sport  edition doesn't have it even though the official guidance says "If you buy a new model of car, approved for manufacture after 31 March 2018, it must have the 112-based eCall system installed."

So what has happened ?

Dickie I am thinking it may automatically activate as if I remember sometime filling in a contact forum on my car . So if the airbags inflate it will call emergency numbers then wait a set time I say ( so 1 hr ) then call my contact to inform of the incident

I would have to double-check the particulars for this vehicle but the key is in the words “approved for manufacture” i.e. when did the vehicle model get Type Approval? Usually new regulations apply first to new models submitted for approval, and then to all new vehicles sold after a further period of time. So the NX gen 1 could well have been Type Approved before this regulation came in. How old is your car?

Just found it . Set it up in your Lexus Link app see photo B60FE6A1-FA5E-487D-884C-159BD16B470D.thumb.jpeg.bda5c2079a12b858f8b523eb2a3c88ec.jpeg

You're exactly right. That's why I said 2nd gen up above. If it's a 2021 remaining 1st gen then he doesn't have it.

The Doctor and Peniole have hit the nail on the head. Whilst my NX was registered in July 2021 and purchased new on the Lexus Link site it comes up as a 2017 "model". So it is very unlikely to have an eCall system. I will just have to wait till I get a newer one !

Thanks for your contribution.

Easy, the mid term face lift production started in September 2017. So the NX phase 1.2 or whatever people are calling it was approved for manufacture before the mandatory requirement.
