Assuming all ES's do it, what is the servo type sound I hear 90% of the time just before the car comes to a dead stop when gently braking? I don't have 'brake hold' switched on.

Is it the electric pump building hydraulic pressure in the brake reservoir?

I hear it when unlocking the car as well

Not sure, lets see if others hear the sound.

Same with the CT.

It's the car switching from regen braking to actual brakes. Yes hear it too.

I put this question to Lexus, I also said I thought it might be as Peter (NemesisUK) suggested. This is a copy of the chat. I don't intend taking it in as they suggest as I'm sure it's not a fault as others seem to hear it.

Hi, would it be possible to put this question to your technical team about my 2022 Lexus ES? Assuming all ES's do it, what is the servo type sound I hear 90% of the time just before the car comes to a dead stop when gently braking? I don't have 'brake hold' switched on.

Hello Neil, thank you for your question. We believe you may be talking about the Acoustic Vehicle Alerting System in your ES. By law, this system will need to produce external sound via a sound generator when running on electric power at speeds up to approximately 12mph, and will need to show whether the vehicle is accelerating or decelerating. Is this what you are referring to? Thanks.

Thanks but that's not the sound. It sounds like a pump kicking in for a second or two just before the car stops. I thought it might have something to do with hydraulic pressure building up.

Unfortunately without seeing the car in person, this is not something that we can diagnose. We would recommend taking your ES to your nearest Lexus Centre for further assistance. Thanks.
