250is rattle from behind rear seats

I have a 2009 250is convertible which has only covered 14000miles but it has a terrible rattle which seems to be coming from behind the rear seats the Lexus dealer said it was probably the roof and it would cost over a thousand pounds to sort out has anybody else had a problem like this personally I cant see it being the roof as it seems to be behind the rear seats.

I also have a rattle in my 2010 250C (33k miles). It only happens with the roof up when passing over uneven surfaces (of which there are many in this neck of the woods!). I will not be spending £1k with Lexus to sort it!

This is a fairly common issue.

Have a look at this video, it has helped to sort the problem for many people.

Hi Barry,

From what you say it sounds like your main problem is with the rear window section.

As in the video, if you partially open the roof the two fixing bars which the roof mechanism latch on to will be visible at the uppermost part of the window section.

Simply wrap a few inches of tape tightly around these bars, - I would try two inches or so of tape - close the roof and test drive to see if there is any improvement.

Certainly worked for me.

I have a 2013 IS250c and it squeaks pretty bad when the top is down. Anyone have a solution?
