Dead Illuminated Scuff Plate

How reliable are the illuminated scuff plates, i brought a pair on this forum, they've been fitted for about 6 mths and the drivers one has died on me i've checked all connections but still no illumination?

Any suggestions?

yep they do die.. one side of mine got dimmer and dimmer till it died.

yep,they are a load of crap,swap the small transformer things around to check better.if that doesnt work its fecked. :)

My drivers side one has gone

if you press it in the right place it comes back on again

mines just a dodgy connection

just not had time to sort it out

and mine have been working for almost a year

my driver side not working too, not sure if the guy from the body shop wire it up wrong or it just died on me, got to get it sort it out soon....

Has anyone had their scuff plates fitted for more than 6 months without any problems. I recently picked up a set for £150 and if they start playing up in under 6 months i will not be happy. Surely that cant be the norm for an item that costs over £200 from the dealership.

the new style with the flat ribbon connector to the scuff plate? or the old style one with the thin black wires?

but they did work and one still does ;)

hmm I wonder if its the flat ribbon that has broken ?

they way they fit looks like they get traped under the weather strip. maybe this is chaffing on the strip and breaks it

the ones i have with wires dont have that problem

my drivers side one is full of water, thats the problem with mine and it works if i press it down.

I was due to get a set when I had the car serviced and let the dealer fit them. However the dealer talked me out of them because they have had a number of faults with them. THey would not go in to too much detail but said if I would not get 12 months out of them!

Now I know what they were talking about.
