Hello all

Quick intro

Been looking for a new used car for quite a while, been tricky, Looked at BMW, Merc, Audi that are 4 or 5 years old and come to the conclusion dont want the hassle of owning one out of warranty. Tired of reading about timing chain failures etc etc. Actually owned a 2007 CLS Merc, Timing chain sprocket broke on that and it cost me £2800 to fix it so im a bit of a picky customer these days.

Owned 2 x GS300 many years ago, never missed a beat, both ran well

Just bought a 2010 IS250, seems a bit daft buying a car this old, but is in really good condition with full Lexus history, 90000 miles on clock

From what i read, quite reliable, hoping thats the case!

Cheers

Hi Sean and welcome to the best Lexus forum there is and to Lexus ownership again but with arguably the best one the is250. You won't be disappointed. They're just a well made car and as reliable as is possible. Hooe you know about the rear brake calipers that they tend to seize if not have the slide pins lubricated. Get yourself in the gen 2 IS section of the forum. You'll find a myriad of info. Don't forget to post a few pics of your car as we all like to see each others cars.

Thank you, will post a pic of the car when i receive it.

Ive read about the rear brakes and noticed it may have had this issue on its MOT history

I like tinkering cars so will check that out

Hi Sean,

Congrats on picking up an IS250! The facelift ones were particularly good as they came with Bluetooth music streaming, auto folding wing mirrors with the indicators, as well as addressing some engine issues the car had pre facelift. I've had the car for over a year and I've enjoyed every second of it and have not had any issues aside from regassing my air con and changing my worn out boot struts.

Brake calipers aren't an issue really if you doa regular clean and re-greasing of the pins - once a year or sooner if needed is fine but always use the recommended grease that does not attack the rubber boots (Toyota Red Rubber Grease)

Thank you!

Appreciate the tips, will get some of that grease ordered.
