Good afternoon, my 2011 Ct has a slow puncture on the rear , the mechanic who tried to fix it told me that the seal between the metal and rubber is poor due to rust on the inside of the wheel which he tried to remove, to no avail.

has anybody else this experience?,  and any solutions spring to mind please

thanks Paul.

You could get the wheel refurbished, or you could get the inside (the air chamber) sealed using a rubberised paint. Any decent tyre shop should be able to do the latter

Quite common on alloy wheels. I have two older cars which slowly lose air (over two weeks). Only solution wheels off cleaned up.

Had this on partner's VW Polo. Removed wheel and took it to body shop where they took the tyre off cleaned alloy and replaced tyre. Asked about refurbish wheel but they reckoned it would be cheaper to buy new wheels.

Perfectly normal I'm afraid and Lexus alloys are notorious for being made from cheese. The post following yours is the answer, you should be able to get it cleaned up.

Just get them refurbished. It shouldnt cost anymore than £100 per wheel provided its not cracked as its a standard paint finish.
