Anyone considered one?

The reason I bring it up is I went over to Trafford Centre over the weekend and they've got a "Polestar Shop" so to speak with 2 Polestar 2's and a Polestar 1 perched inside. They were letting people touch and sit inside the polestar 2's so I thought why not, lets check it out.

I wasnt keen on the shape but the interior had a nice design. Quality was another matter entirely. Fit seemed to be good and solidly built but the materials were probably the worst Ive noted on any vehicle north of £28k, let alone a car costing £45k. The leather interior was an extra £4k on top

No leather interior, everything was cloth and quite poor cloth at that, not even alcantara. The door and dash were pretty nasty as well. Hard plastic on the dash and the front door cars in an effort to be "sustainable" I believe. Very scratchy too with a funny corrugated texture on part of it.

All the reviews are claiming the materials are top notch so I was quite shocked.

It does make you wonder whether reviewers are looking at the same car sometimes. Interesting your feedback on the interior - in contrast, What Car? notes the following;

”The interior mix of squishy dashboard materials and plush inserts give the Polestar 2’s interior a high-quality, sophisticated feel, and it's noticeably more premium-feeling than the Model 3's interior.”

Yes which is why I was quite confused. The dashboard is ok at best. But the door cards are hideous. They're hard plastic from top to bottom. The handles felt very nice however as they are pure metal.

There was no difference between the top spec £60k one and the £40k one

This seems to be a thing with BEVś .  I took the Audi Q4 Etron for a spin and left just as confused as you. Truly terrible interior. Cheap nasty plastics, simple design and more VW Polo than Audi. Top that with average performance and range and bland styling and i just dont see how they can sell this for the price they ask?

It seems the cars are designed towards a price point and as Ev s are expensive to build the cost cutting is done inside. At least the Polestar is attractively styled and i see them a lot seems to be a success?

Yes I agree. The steering wheel on the Q4 is horrid and looks like cardboard.

I'm glad I went for the UXe now as it's actually built very well

Yeah, I've had one on test drive from their store in Westfield London.

Quite fond of the exterior design but wasn't too keen on the interior, mainly due to how cramped the centre console made me feel while driving, especially in one pedal mode. Enjoyable drive though with fantastic performance.

Interior materials didn't impress at all and so totally agree with your assessment. No where near Lexus levels for sure.

I didn't like the steering wheel, indicator control stalks (which are straight out of a Volvo) and the large centre console plastic trim. The one I test drove had a rattle coming from the dashboard and one over my passenger's head, and the boot wasn't aligned properly. Really couldn't get on with the steering whichever mode I selected, always felt I was fighting the car somewhat.

The Google OS isn't for me either, and lots of complaints on the Polestar forums where promised features haven't been delivered and questions over whether google will drop development of the system.

I do like the exterior styling but far too expensive now the launch edition is no longer available compared to the Tesla M3 which is better in almost every measurable metric.
