Because they don't use real world conditions, NEDC (Not Even Darn Close) is lightyears away from what you will get and WLTP is not much better. Look up Honest John for a nearer figure. I get  30 t0 35.

Well, if your journey is 5 miles, and you make 2 of them on “EV only” with a good tailwind then it will be a close number.

Another option is to pull the car with a couple of horses and use engine only to charge Battery for entertainment and air conditioning.

I get 24mpg on school runs and slightly above 30 on motorway (depends a lot on speed).

Neither WLTP nor NEDC (Not Even Darn Close) come close to representing the actual results you can expect because they do not account for environmental factors. For a more accessible figure, search for Honest John. I obtain 30 to 35.

I think the price increase would be more shocking, now >£80k for top of the range 5th Gen.
