Hi all,

I had owned a single turbo mkiv Supra for 13 years (so used to the 2JZ) before selling around 4 years ago but fancied something a little different so picked up totally stock 2005 IS300 Sportcross about 2 years ago.

During the first lockdown period when I wasnt working, I pulled all the suspension and subframes off of the car and replaced all the bushings, fitted new HKS Hipermax Suspension and upgraded the brakes. The car then went down to SRD Tuning to carry out the engine and transmission work. The engine was totally stripped and rebuilt (rods, pistons, cams etc), a custom SRD exhaust manifold was made and fitted with a Precision 6870 turbo, a Whifbitz intake manifold was used with a Bosch DBW throttle, the intercooler was custom made to fit behind the bumper (its very tight behind there!). Lastly the stock auto transmission was removed and a AA80E 8 speed transmission from the Lexus LFA was fitted. The engine and transmission is all controlled by a Syvecs ECU.

Still a few bits to sort when it goes back for an oil change and checkover, but its a blast to drive with the rapid gear changes.

Thanks to Ash @ SRD for the video.

How did you get 1000BHP from the standard 214BHP, no idea on turbocharging but always thought a 50% increase on stock was the norm?

 Very impressive BTW 😀

Beautiful engineering on your car their Steve. Shame the video of the car driving was in the wet, one would ders if the tyres let go like that in the dry lol. Weird how it doesn't sound like a six potter must be a bad sound recording. More pics would be nice.

I thought the LFA used a 6 speed automated manual?

That is incredible performance and surely a unique IS300.....How much have you spent so far? What other mods, if any, do you have planned?..... and last, but not least, how expensive is it to insure a 1000hp Sportcross?😱.....

Enjoy it!😎👍

The diff will be changed when it goes for its check over. We just wanted to check everything was ok before we changed more bits.

There is some additional coding being done on the Syvecs firmware to help smooth out the gear changes, so hopefully that will be done also.

It is having a vacuum pump fitted to help the brake servo, the engine doesn't create enough vacuum with the bigger cams to keep the servo assist more than a couple of presses.

Needs a filler neck 3D printed to aid filling the washer bottle, it had to have a custom tank  fabbed up. Takes a while to fill up currnetly due to not letting the air out when filling.

Im sure there was a couple more small bits to do.

When all the work is done i'm hoping to have it resprayed to. Theres a few marks on it now which is as to be expected with the age of the car.

When it dries out a bit I will get some new videos. Roads haven't dried out since I got it back!

I did a quick walk round video for those interested.

Absolutely fabulous build and a ruddy good looking car to Steve. 👍

i recommend running a supra diff and shafts

i also suggest you make a heat shield for your clutch master cylinder, over time the heat will cause it to fail

Have a Supra diff coming for it tomorrow, just got to sort the shafts and the new diff internals.

I did wonder if you would be on here. ☺️

Those shifts are insane! It's rare to find a 2JZ that shifts like that apart from those with sequential boxes.

Amazing car! You must be thrilled!

Hi Steve, Nice build. I have a Toyota Hilux pick up with a 2jz gte and will be grateful if you can provide information how you married the AA80E gearbox with the engine. Thanks in advance. Louis
