Hi,

Can someone please tell me which diff oil is to be used on the IS300h?

75w-80 or 75w-90

And how many litres required?

There is no mention of differential oil in the manual.

Check page 585 Dess. Just had a quick look online and, assuming I got the right model, it has differential specs at the top. It says 1.35 litres, Toyota genuine differential gear oil 75w85 GL-5 or equivalent.

If it's not in your manual then I'm sure someone else will come along to confirm.

my user manual only goes up to page 152 🙂
Engine Oil / Transmission oil etc is listed on Page 126/127 but no mention of Differential oil

In which case you might want to pop over to the Lexus website and download the full manual. Makes Lord of the Rings look like a brochure 😀

Thanks @Bluemarlin its been so long that i forgot Lexus have user manuals online.

But just one more question... why is the online manual 500+ page but the user guide i have only 150 pages?

Oil capacity 1.15 L (1.20 qt., 1.01 Imp. qt.)
Oil type and viscosity Toyota Genuine Differential gear oil LT 75W-85 GL-5 or equivalent

One's just a quick start guide that covers the basics, and the other is much more detailed affair. There should have been hard copies of both with the car.

From my understanding some of Lexus fluids are classified as lifetime fluids , ie.no need to change unless you are replacing the components in question.

This could be why it is not mentioned?

Is there a reason you want to change it?  Is it due to mileage or just something you've done on other cars.

Any fluid changes would be shown on service records if you have access to them.Lexus databases are good so simply quoting your reg  to a dealer may provide you with a background

The only other overiding factor for changing lifetime fluids would be if your car is subject to operating in extreme conditions , something like minus 40 degrees in the winter to +40 degees in the summer from memory so that would rule us out here in the UK

Rear diff oil is a scheduled service item on the IS300h, every major service (which seems a bit excessive to me but that is the schedule).
